What next after tff

Farming forums have been around in one form or another for a good while now, first we had newsnet, then Farmers Weekly Forums, a bit of agmachineryforum after the FWi chaos, until Blue got his act together and launched British Farmimg Forum.
That started off well but after eventually one technical failure too far led to its demise and TFF appeared out of thin air.

TFF seems to be going OK but is stagnating a bit recently. More and more farmers are using mobiles to go online and desktops are a thing of the past. TFF doesn't seem to have much of a plan when it comes to mobile and the current app offering is pretty rubbish.

Facebook has thousands of farming discussion groups and this seems to be where all the next generation are at the moment. Twitter is also popular amongst farmers.

So what does everyone reckon the next incarnation of TFF will be?

It's a waste of time looking at IP addresses, EE appear to use about three public ip's for the entire country, and as you say lots of husbands wives / offices full of people etc.

It doesn't take long to notice those who have multiple accounts for troublemaking purposes though, @llamedos and myself have developed a bit of a sixth sense at detecting them
Wasn't there some rules set out when the forum kicked off about people "talking" to themselves been publicly embarrassed and then struck off?

I think TFF has seen its heyday and is probably on the way down. It used to be buzzing here at Christmas but just the now it seems very dreary and uninteresting.

I have been on various forums before and none of them last forever, and the ones that do turn into a bit of a toxic clique. Sometimes a big shakeup happens like did when BFF became TFF and things are revived for a while.
TFF also seems to have stopped innovating / improving, classifieds is utter crap and could be so much better, forums aren't great to use anyway while on a mobile compared to snapchat / twitter.

From an advertising perspective has anyone ever bought anything as a result of an advert on here? No idea what it costs but can't imagine its that effective.

Stats suggest very much the opposite, busier than ever, more unique visitor numbers, more online at peak times, more page views served than ever, member number growing at the same rate as ever and content being added as consistently as ever

Classifieds works, lot of people use it ...... and it's free, if it was not effective no one would bother I'm sure

Advertisers keep coming back and paying so l guess it must work for them and some of us must be buying something

But glad you know better, maybe you should start up a better free alternative ?

I really don't get the negativity.
If anything there are too many threads on the go. I just havn't the time to look at half of them.
The classifieds works well I thought. If anyone can suggest how to improve it then tell admin. I'm sure they will welcome sensible suggestions.

I do wonder if there could be some kind of incentive to get new people posting. It can seem a bit daunting at first as the forum is dominated by a relatively small number of regular posters. (As are most forums!)
But without the regulars any forum will die very quickly.

Talking about forums dying. Has BFF gone for good now?
Just tried to have first look in for a long time and coming up bad address or website cannot be found etc. when clicking on it.

Not sure why people don't like the classifieds on here. Anytime I've looked for something specific typing up manufacturer name or a keyword always brings up listings of what I'm looking for.
I take it those complaining have never tried to use FWi classifieds. Might find what you searched for halfway down page 12 of results with their effort.

Not convinced your detection systems are that good. Wifey is a member on here Same ip address different email. She has even contributed to threads i've started. No one has ever pulled us up on it. I'm certain we're not the only ones either.
Believe me when i tell you that the detection system is better than Norad, its just that the forum detection system can differentiate between malicious and friendly :)

If this place dies I will have a new exciting forum ready to go called TFWF, trolls, farmers and weirdo's forum.
And I will post pics of my Range Rover and excellent farm, while the rest of you peasants argue over "which second hand wheelbarrow" & "how brexit ruined my life"
It will be the cutting edge

Heck, I hope my wife is not on here, we certainly need a system that detects that.

I think I'm going to make far less comments now !

She was a figment of someone else imagination, anyway, you've only been here since July this year, how do you know about her?
So was my comment about being kath. A bit of imagination.

Someone brought up the thread farmer wants a wife. I'm open to the idea of having one, so... quiet Sunday, not much of a life, a rake of cups of tea, some eye drops, a comfy chair and thread read!

Good question I've felt it isn't the same place lately but my life and priorities have majorly changed(for the better!) and giving thought to login off and not bothering.

I've regualar threads I subscribe to but but struggle to find the time or enthusiasm to bother reading even my favourite T@W is often multiple days behind.

That said this forum has been a great help especially with pm's I'm in no way a lone worker nor live on my own but being quite quiet and shy find it easier to type and have actually made friends on here.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
