4.5kg Powder on tractor fuel tank. 9kg powder on baler pull on right hand side and 9kg powder on left hand side of bale chamber. Only thing I was told with powder on machines is it can settle from all the vibration so occasionally you need to turn them upside down and shake them. Dont know how true this is??

Exactly what @ACEngineering said in the thread I linked to above…

Dont get powder ones, the vibrations set the powder solid and it dont come out!

Be water or foam best for a machine like baler/combine i would say, needs something wet cause just putting flames out isn't going to work so well with straw and chaff etc???? Stand to be corrected though as its not something i have personal experience of.

I do have experience twice with a powder one that wouldn't come out when needed!

I would say foam powder is a bugger to clean out of a cab and seems to kill electronic components if they where not damaged by the fire already .

that said either is better than nothing

You should get some and try them. I have used them in anger and was shockingly disappointed. Third attempt was with powder and that one did the trick, spent the next 10 minutes trying to get a breath and the rest of the day cleaning up the mess. The smallish water ones were a complete waste of time, they might put a cigarette out but that's about it.
I don't know if it the same everywhere but there are regular adverts for cheap but reconditioned extinguishers on facebook, probably on ebay too.

not sure on foam but had customer let a powder off under a dash once for a mild electrical fault. Rotted out all the dash connections and fuse box. awful stuff and i tried many times to get rid of it but didnt work.

Put these in all our machines, never had to use one in anger yet. They suffocate and cool the fire, price depends on how long you need them to run for. Have smaller ones for van/car etc, bigger ones in tractors/combine. Think they’re good for at least 10yr.

far easier to carry than extinguishers.
