Ask a farmer who has invested millions where his sheep go after they leave the farm gate he has no idea.

The big plant near Lincoln used to process all the cad into bone meal untill BSE put a stop on that .
They still collect from the poultry units round the county but what happens to now I dont know

They collect ruminants as well. I was talking to the driver last year. He said lamb bone meal is worth £1500/ton.

I didn't realise he was quite that old though. If he remembers the 70s he must be born in the 60s, making him 60+.

I was put to work very early looking back I thought it was normal at the time exploitation more like

Hopefully things will swiftly change and on farm collections will be uncharged. Things have changed for some of us in the processing industry in the last couple of years (not everywhere I'm told). Bone bin collections at the butchers were charged for but are now free (for us anyway). Maybe even they will swing back round further and we will be paid like generations before. They say things come around?

Pretty sure Grandad has mentioned being paid for cows since we’ve been here. Bought here in ‘81. So that’s a bit of a gauge. I can’t remember ever being payed for Deadstock. I can just about remember when they stopped us burying it.
