RE Farm Marketplace payment I know this is a ball ache right now but we cant afford to take risk or give credit without having to inflate the prices and the fees charged by credit and debit card alos add significantly to costs

................. however

- we have a development that will mean you can set up a direct debit so payment making things automatic - a very simple process, we send you and email and you follow a link, add a few details and from then on whenever you order agchems on Farm Marketplace your payment will be taken automatically removing need for you to go and do a bank transfer

Would you like to get set up top try it ?

Got a load of new product going on the website later this week, we are finally making some significant inroads to the more open and transparent supply we set out to achieve

So , if you pay up in full , there's a discount ?

hi,

I'm after some suggestions as to where to get an honest simple price on supply only ag chems. I'm finding that it's a lot less simple than I would have expected, lots of sign up first, get told prices later etc etc, I just want to ask for what I want, get given a price promptly and say yes please or no thanks, I don't want to be tied in or ripped off.

I love the idea of farm marketplace, for me it's 2 steps away from perfect, I'd like to be able to find any product I need and I'd like to be able to have a trade account, balance transfer every time is a pain to be honest.

I'd be greatful for any suggestions and any further insight into how to make the market work for me.

Thanks

Horizons in Lincs won’t be beaten on price. Very good to deal with.

The price on farm Marketplace is the price

It’s the same for everyone and it’s the best posibible price we can get for users -

There is no credit

We don’t make money out of ag Chen’s on there

At the moment you have to bank transfer for ag Chen’s as credit card fees would add too much to cost

We are bringing in the direct debit option for user convenience so they dont have to do a bank transfer after they check out on fatm marketplace

Any one interested in this new payment option pm me your email address and I will send you the link to get set up to pay this way

I don’t really get buying groups

I’ve looked at it many times but can always get the sane or better price elsewhere without their membership fees, transaction. % or commitment to buy from them exclusively

....... and I dislike / don’t trust anyone who insists on price secrecy !

Used to use him a lot but do better usually these days on a lot of products

I also won’t buy imported product any longer - way to dangerous imo now I know a bit more about ag Chen supply chains !

I check regularly and they have never been beaten on price for any item.

I have found the same, no need for buying groups.

It's my first yr having a go at doing some myself, so currently I don't buy anywhere, have been used to an independent who supply's mainly from agrii. They won't talk prices until I set up an account.
@Brisel do you by through af?

I have an existing account but I was put off by the idea that I can't just get a price, I have to put all my faith in there ability and wait till the end of the yr for a rebate to see if I was right, not backed with any guarantees I wasn't really into it.
No one will give you a price until you have an account and imo rightly so. How do they know you are legit otherwise?

Do they do agchem now?
Had a talk by them not long ago and sounded like diesel and fert was about it so far.
Lots of benchmarking, but no ability to supply yet.
Maybe I got that wrong?
Yes, but I think it’s very area dependent. All the big Agronomy companies pulled out after a little while which was a big shame. I wonder why they didn’t want to run with it?

How do they know I'm legit? theyll get paid before delivery so why do they care if it's my last pound, and why does filling out an account form and getting a credit check make me any less likely to make my kids drink what I buy?

They don’t know if you’re a farmer or serious about buying (you could be anyone). However, if you set up an account then they have farm name, they can do credit checks etc and they can ascertain whether you are actually going to buy stuff.
The more I get into this thread, the more I feel it is a plug for farm market place and it’s new credit scheme rather than an actual issue a farmer is having with getting prices.
Any farmer in any type of farming is used to the fact that they, by and large, need an account with a firm before they can get prices for a whole variety of stuff.

Each to their own. According to any data I have seen for an arable farm our costs for Chems are lower than average and our yields are better. I cannot see how for us increasing the time I spend looking for chem deals will yield much more profit. My agronomist is independent and he has both group and non group clients, he always has Chem costs at his fingertips. I don’t know why anyone would employ an agronomist who doesn’t. The purchasing decision is integral to the agronomy IMO. I can quite believe better deals are available for very large businesses though.

It depends on what you like doing with your time. Many enjoy the haggling and getting the best price. I am happy to outsource this to an organisation with hundreds of millions of turnover who have a seat at the top table - something I'll never have by myself. Then I can spend more time on other aspects of the business. Or in here!

Farm market place might suit you. I have this problem with steel, won’t quote until an account set up. Very old fashioned. There is no loyalty from supplier going your way so don’t show it the other way or you may come off worse.

It's not a plug for anything,

Take a look at farm marketplace, can I run my farm from the products offered?

What I was looking for were replies with a simple suggestion of where you get it and why that works for you.
