BP made them and the oil based pesticides if I remember correctly. Brilliant.
Not sure why they went out of fashion. :scratchhead:

Cooper Pegler = 'kin useless.

Cap didn't seal properly....chemical driggles down your back, even if only half full.:wideyed:
Piston kept binding.....pumping like mad, nothing came out the nozzle. From a distance it looked like you were w@nking.:wtf:
Uncomfortable.
Lance kept insisting it wanted to end up on the wrong side after you'd got the knapsack on. Que running around in a circle, like a cat chasing it's tale, trying to grab the lance.:banghead:
Tank opaque, so you can't see from the outside the quantity in the tank.:banghead:
Trigger leaks.

Got thrown in the hedge anyway, before a RT inspection;). May, or may not, bother to retrieve it.:meh:

I haven't done my homework, i.e. searched for other discussions, because I'm lazy and busy.

If you have bought a backpack sprayer recently and are happy or unhappy with it, could you please let me know what it is and what you like or dislike about it? We have an ancient (constantly breaking) thing and need to buy a new one.

Thanks. :)

Horses for courses of course. After I fell over a 4 foot cliff with a knapsack on my back, in deep bracken, I gave it back to the neighbour I had borrowed it from, and started using a pump up 5l garden sprayer instead. 40 years later that is still what I use, having worn out 3 or 4 but I've also expanded into a 60l atv sprayer with 50m of hose on it.

Not perfect or cheap but stood the test of time and spares readily available should you need any.
Look after it sensibly and it will last your lifetime at least.
