Drove one a fair bit last week.I struggle to think the last time I saw a 20 year old tractor on the road around here.
It doesn't hurt. Quite enjoy it. Wouldn't want to drive it 12 hours a day 7 days a week.

I never buy new , how much would a JS145 and a Mini Digger cost me new ?HELP !! It's obviously just me trapped in a 1970's produce price time warp.
I need rescuing. Once rescued, I'll be getting £1000 / ton for grain, and £100 bale for straw. I can then afford to spend £xxxxxx on new machinery. ?
You nearly got a thanks emoji . Haven't seen that before !Hello.
Was it a JD tractor isI know who you mean, very unlucky with that tractor tho
TBF my “kit” is pretty depreciated. I just don’t think secondhand tractors of the size I use (200hp) offer good value. Just my opinion. Why can you not ? You could have some proper gear like welkers with appreciation not depreciation.
Thats cos the sensible farmers who have old kit operate in a ring fence and dont rush 30miles to cut someone elses grassI struggle to think the last time I saw a 20 year old tractor on the road around here.
The guy who pays the bills likes to drive old stuff.Quite simply, who the fudge wants to drive old stuff?
It is hard enough to find operators as it is, much less attract new and young blood into the industry.
No !Was it a JD tractor is
Can’t take it with you so why not ?I have some machines on my wanted list, if prices go down hard I'll be buying alright, maybe even a tractor.
If I go down, at least I'll go down with a lot of gear in my yard, I don't give a hoot.
Yep 215rWas it a JD tractor is
Not the contract I know of he has no John Deere tractors your on about someone differentYep 215r
A fella used to say " I can't really afford it, but it'll look good in the farm auction".Well I ment go down as in bankruptcy but I like what you're saying
The alternative being..."No wonder he could never make any money at the job"A fella used to say " I can't really afford it, but it'll look good in the farm auction".
Ah never mind just a mistake,Not the contract I know of he has no John Deere tractors your on about someone different
that's where you need the latest bling tractor and i plough, it does all the work for you while you sit in heated/AC cab on a fancy leather seat watching your tv screen or listening to the DAB radio while eating your lunch out of the factory fitted cool box ?There’s plenty around here . It’s also an age thing. It wouldn’t bother me if I didn’t plough another acre as it all gives me back and shoulder ache these days .
That’s what I can never understand when you see a retirement sale with a two year old tractor. The alternative being..."No wonder he could never make any money at the job"
I bought a JD 6420 for €30k 2 years ago and that's the most expensive machine I own by a good margin. If I sell every machine I have I still won't be able to buy a new 150 hp ish tractor. Only a smalltime farmer me, so hey.A fella used to say " I can't really afford it, but it'll look good in the farm auction".
