i suppose they're making as much/kg as hoggs....thus an 80 kg ewe @ £2-50 come to £200
I think the few that make £200 will be a good bit over 80kg. Likely half as heavy again I’d expect.
some ewe that goes over 100kg....never mind 120
Was at the abattoir this morning there was nothing in the cold store, demand is outstripping supply. Was emailed the kill sheet for Mondays mart purchases, some ewes were dearer then hoggs over the scales. Hell of alot were in lamb
Back to the price they should be
Like the avatar Neilo! The bigger terminal sire ewes in forward condition will be up there. Lots of breeders have been chasing donkeys for size in all those breeds, to breed those big rams for the sales (the late maturing ones who’s progeny need hard feed?).
Chicken is also in short supply so can't see prices dropping, unless abattoir staff are taken out with the virus and plants are closed. They must have known it was coming. Some ewes made 165 ish in Hereford a month ago and the buyer said " you ain't seen nothing yet"
They should be traced back to the owner via the eartags and Heavy fines imposedWas at the abattoir this morning there was nothing in the cold store, demand is outstripping supply. . Hell of alot were in lamb
thats awful
The price of kebabs will have to go up then!?

Wasn't there a blackie tup that made £100k last year. He's probably worth almost £200 now with cull trade as it is.Saw a video on Facebook of a ewe make £285. Buggered if I can remember where though...
