Winter linseed

Winter Linseed is drilled in september and combined at a similar time to Winter Rape ie July/August.

It does not attract the Cabbage stem flea beetle.

There is a lot of work going on in the back-ground to secure alternative products as replacements for diquat.
It was interesting looking at your desiccant trial plots at Cereals last year. Are you any closer to an EAMU for a desiccant that will work like diquat?

Morning, The EAMUs are still running for next year for two alternatives to diquat, subject to CRD authorization. This year AHDB has applied for an Emergency Approval for Spotlight Plus, this is still in process but expect decision very soon.

Anybody else had low oils? :(
Also was a sod to cut, don’t know why, cut loads of spring linseed with no issues in the past. Didn’t make much difference if the sun was in or out.Yield is difficult to tell but I believe around 0.8t/ac .

Cambridgeshire, medium soil, bit gravelly.
sown end of March, good seedbed, good even emergence.
No weed issues.
Knackered by the drought, flowering cut short, ended up looking too thin and too short.
Estimate 0.4/0.5 t/ ac, I expect to be disappointed as usual !

Berkshire.
0.97 tpa loaded out.
Was hit really hard by frosts in early May, so am giving it another go. Was still a better GM than my last four years of OSR, with zero hassle too.
Am drilling it now actually!

2 days earlier than last year.
1-30th September is the typical window for the south.
The forecast that told me well in advance about last autumn’s deluge is showing a similar pattern, so I’m getting on.
Fair enough. Sowed mine 28 sep last year. Won't go earlier than the 14th.

Unfortunately I heard today that someone who pays for a long range forcast has said that there's two and a half weeks dry spell in September then it all goes to shyte!
You may well be correct in your concern, but that means I'll be a month earlier than normal.....
