She calved 3 days ago and calf would not suck at all. Tubed the calf first and now have it sucking the bottle. Her elder is massive and big tits and calf can't get them. He's keen now but no joy.
How much milk should I be bottle feeding him to keep him hungry to suck her?
What happens if it never sucks her? Will she get mastitis?
The vet got some milk from back 2 tits for colostrum so the seal is broke on them.
I can't milk her coz she is too rough.

Have you a small shed you can put cow and calf in but so the calf cannot get to her, so limit access? Then loose it after getting it hungry? Calf needs as much as it wants in some ways BUT, needs to be hungry to suck.

Cow in crush is possibly the only way to hold her still?

If you can get it in the crush an get it sucking at least one tit it will soften an shrink in size once it’s took some pressure off!! If you’ve got it wanting to suck your more than half way there, it’s when the barstewards don’t want to suck it p1ss’s you off!!
