Wood pellet store suction probe hassle

hi all. 60kw Windhager here sucking out of a 20t flat bottom timber lined store next to boiler. 8 probes suck pellets out but due to the large floor area of store it leaves about 5t between probes to shovel. Getting a bit bored of this job and must be an easier way. Store is also triangle shaped to maximise space as I wanted big store for bulk discount and summer ordering.

Anyone know of a better suction based solution? Perhaps something that moves through the heap and clears floor as it travels? Reliable and less hassle when it’s cold. Thanks all as ever

Probe system is fine as you say it’s the large floor area of store that’s the problem. Leaves too much between probes. Thought about inflating bags to force pellets but I expect that’s not going to be easy due to store shape.

When you say triangle does that mean sloping base?

Traingle as in that is the floor area shape. I’ve added sloping floors round the outside to reduce floor area but it’s not made a big difference as it’s a large area with only 8 probes. Weird triangle shaped building to fit in the yard and as ours was a fairly early system there weren’t too many others out there to learn how much hassle this would create. Wish now I’d made it different and be able to push up pellets with jcb into corner or something or fitted sweep auger from day 1

How big is your storage, length, width & height. And volume m3

Sorry for delay. 7m deep by 3.5m wide but a triangle shape so 12.25 meter square foot print. About 2.5m high so about 30 cubic meters. Door in corner and would be awkward but not impossible to move it.

The large Janfire will fit in that space easily and holds 3.5 tonne.
By the looks of it he’s trying to store 20 ton nearly a years supply.

You’re just going to need to redisgn it as those probes as you know aren’t effective. You need to look at this if you haven’t and go to the drawing board and build your store again.

Yep aiming for maximum volume initially to get best prices. I’ve ended up doing more shovelling than I’d bargained for. Suction probe that I could move around might help the shovelling side of things but don’t know if they are reliable enough.
Thanks for the thoughts so far.

Thanks for the link and looks like a potential solution. Any idea on price and anyone actually fitted one?
Thank
Ring this number ‭01225 892211‬ and run it’s compatibly through. Maybe you can lock the suction feed to 1 probe but I don’t think you’ll get enough power from the control system.

They may not offer help or advise not to use 3rd party. In that case I’d email Schellinger with the SLD (single line diagram) of your system. They are the best ones to ask.
