Err... didn't you just suggest that shearers would be taking up more of the wool value to cover their costs?
I said I could forsee the cost of shearing increasing. I didn't say it had but I can assure you the wool board will cover it's costs before it pays out any remaining value to the producer.

Perhaps your suggesting the wool producer could pass on their increased cost to wool board this year, oh wait.........

You must have some very good wool to be quoted those prices by DB wools.

See attached auction report for the last sale at which the owners of DB wools bought a fair quantity of wool.
Apologies, just checked the contact in my phone. It's HD Wool quoting me that. DB was where it went last year.

Shetland wool is finer that romney wool apparently? I know of several people crossing Shetlands into Romneys to improve the fleece.

Shetland wool is outside of the BWMB scheme and if you have the recognised colours it is very valuable and probably worth more than you have been quoted.
It is very fine but the colours are difficult to match.
Crossing with a Romney would work for the white stuff but not the coloured.

Sadly it's a by product for me. I'm grading up to shedders so I don't give the wool marketing much time/thought.
