What machine is it? Anyone know? Too big to be a low slung verge mower, only 2WS, too heavy duty to be sprayer based? Equal size tyres? Unimog????

Could be a large embankment mower. It is actually 4ws if you look very close, there's track rods on both axles.

It's one of those sp bank mowers Bit like a rubber duck with big telescopic hedger arm. Usually has tranny van on a frame behind. Was through yard other day been on welney banks at well more sluice. Either a twiga. Or energreen

Waited till the end of maize harvest, then took the engine out in the field. Engine now with dealers looking for parts which seem quite difficult to come by for that particular specification. Other versions using the same block seem much easier to get, but it seems to have a strange crank.
