in the better days if a hiab for example reached its overload it would slowly release pressure and lower to the ground no f**king drama but not with todays machines where you have to either try and press two buttons together and pray your quick enough or it just locks out and won't do anything which is a great safety feature its a lot harder to recover from a mistake today than it was back then and i'm talking from experience of running crane lorry's and having the certificates training etc

I should think the loadings on a telehandler whilst moving on anything other than concrete are so variable as to render any attempted measurement to be futile. All it needs is a bit of experience and common sense but that is very much lacking this day and age.

I know a guy looking after railway worksites and I can understand Bloders pedantism as regards safety. It’s all they live for, if it’s not written down, trained for or anything other than the norm then you can’t do it and any manager will get strung up if someone does.

Believe me, wouldn’t allow recovery, by pressing buttons, don’t know why,
I wouldn’t have attempted lift if I thought the machine not capable.
As for experience, I’m no amateur at lifting and shifting, with at least 25 yrs understanding what you can and can’t do.

Obviously the machines override system was faulty then, as that is not how they work. Hope it got fixed so it doesn’t happen again!

Same as above post
The only way is to go under with other machine and take up weight then it lets you lower or boom in
Had it a few times
I think if a driver cannot use the load indicator or feel the rear-side off a machine moving he shouldn’t be operating it
The auto lockout should be banned
but then we push everything to the limit sometimes
Had to get a 360 machine to come up to rear off jcb handler and reach over cab etc with timber across its bucket ( to protect paint and boom)and come up under one side of boom to take weight as a building each side so couldnt get near with other handler
Happens more on steep-rough yards so loads swing to over load more than just straight lifting
As other post in text book operation hand brake on out off gear before and lift bucket work commences
You wait in a few years some ar-ole will make it law any loader etc will have to have handbrake on before loader leaver will operate ralmfao

On our 536-70 there are way to make it work better & have never had it lock out ever the auto lock out is dangerous on them the way it works
