Just a warning to those with seed orders with Wynnstay, ordered Triticale seed on 28th august, thought I had better chase it today to be informed that the seed will not be even processed for another ten days, so not likely to be here for at least two weeks.

Apparently it has come as a shock to them that farmers will be wanting to plant seed this autumn.

To be fair, it isn’t a good idea to plant Triticale too early otherwise you run the risk of a late frost in the spring affecting the ears and making some of the grain sites blind.

I’m fairly certain that Wynnstay delivered my tonne of Extase C1 seed several weeks ago.

But I recently had a big problem in getting my Bazooka seed from Syngenta, which was ordered in March!
I was told that it wasn’t being processed until this week.
Then when I demanded that it was delivered by Friday last week, they miraculously got me some delivered from Norfolk.
The driver who delivered it told me that the store owners he had collected it from were annoyed that it had been there for over a month awaiting collection.

Just because certain agronomy advice is not to drill it yet, doesn’t mean it can’t be delivered yet. As farmers, it is our decision when we drill it, not their’s or the seed processors.

Quite right, and I need to be planting by the first week of October, because once it gets wet it won't dry out until spring.

Have changed cropping plans now, growing W. Barley and second wheats, not ideal, but better having a crop in the ground than not.

What really annoyed me was the individuals total lack of responsibility for the issue.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
