Yamaha big bear fuel leak

Thought I'd ask in the classic thread as it's getting on a bit
Don't know anything about quads but bought one in the spring for occasional use moving cattle and sheep. Underneath the carburettor there's a plastic pipe that goes nowhere but appears to leak fuel when it's not in use so wondering is this normal, should the end of the pipe be connected to something or maybe it's a leak of pipe and the carburettor needs attention?
Should have said it's one of the early blue ones if that helps, also anyone got any books for one that would help as like I said I'm new to quads.
TIA

Float /valve/ not sealing off petrol when float chamber full ,then its running out of the over flow pipe dont block that one mind else it will possibly run in to the engine or somehwere.

wont do any harm in use.
just obvious;ly waste fuel if you dont switch it off at the tap when the engine is stopped for long periods as you have already found.....

My hnda does it and when ive got time i will strip and rebuild the carb :cautious:

Yeah sounds like the float valve, we had that issue with my mum's old quad, think it's a big bear too. They don't like E10 petrol as much but if you are running it regularly it's not so much of an issue. You can buy 3rd party carb rebuild kits online from a site call wemoto, as I recall it was much cheaper than getting rinsed by our Yamaha dealer up here
