Zetor heater plug?

On a zetor 6211 which I recently purchased, the previous owner appears to have a self fitted glow plug system according to a mechanic where I place diesel where you’d normally have put the screen wash in the tank on the outside and a button beside the starter button he said to hold in. This doesn’t really appear to make it start much easier in the cold also I’m not mechanically minded but I thought the glow plugs worked by heating incoming diesel, not feeding diesel in? Can anyone understand?

Sounds like he's added a thermostat and the tank holds the diesel for this. As said above, hold the button in and when it gets hot it lets some diesel in which ignites. You won't always hear a pop but they do die eventually.... cheap to replace.

Not all had the excess fuel button. My 4712 and 7045 had as did the 5511 and 6718 models. Just looked at an operator's manual for the 52,62 and 72## range and there is no mention of using a button for cold starts on them.

These tractors don’t need a glow plug, they have either a cold start button on the end of the injector pump next to the compressor, or the later models have an “automatic” cold start mechanism activated by the throttle before starting.
They’re instant starters, if they’re not then it’s likely the diesel is running back to the tank (try priming the lift pump before starting) or the cold start not kicking in.
