Protest vote backfired?

That works both ways thou as the French have the same rights currently on English soil, only last week the French refused at Dover to let an aid group that was taking food/ clothes etc from the UK to the tent village in Calais from crossing the channel..

True, but it is likeley that the "jungle" will move to Kent when Calais withdraws it's agreement to have UK checkpoints on French soil.

Only if we let them come in! we will be able to send them back and dump them on French soil, thus why the French are now getting very ratty as they realise they will have to keep these people as they will be the end of the road.

News headlines not great this morning.

The decision was made. I was told that the Leave Campaign was just that, a campaign and not an alternative Government (despite numerous assurances on matters of policy). Fair enough, that was the voters will.

I can even stomach anyone on Brexit telling the EU to get back in their box about demanding invoking Article 50 immediately.

What I cannot stomach is our (Sovereign) Westminster going off to recess in a few weeks, a 3 month period of machinations and careerist ambitions plotting until the party conferences.

We need Leadership now and I want someone to give me faith that there is a future.

The City and macro-economic matters need Leadership now before the cow cash walks abroad.

I wouldn't for a minute advocate voting SNP but the Scottish Cabinet is meeting this morning. All I got from Brexit on the radio was a dinosaur called Bill Cash who caused this resurrection for 30 years (and apparently is still Chairman on the House of Commons Committee on European Matters). Closed door stuff from all the "Old Boys", stitched up candidate and then out to the membership.

I, too, would like to be a First League Nation in or out of the EU

I see no Leadership whatsoever

So where are we going to stop them - the UK passport checks will not be made until the ferries dock or the Eurostar surfaces on British soil ?

There will be a lot of work going on behind the scenes!

The problem is that things cant move forward and talks begin until Cameron is replaced, he has left the country in limbo until the autumn!

The other problem is that there might be a General election when the new leader of the con party is installed so they have a clear mandate..

Complete cop out by Cameron to quit because he didn't win and leave the country with a lame duck PM at a very crucial time!

The Tories have a mandate.
They gained a majority government, delivered a referendum and are bound to act upon the outcome..... whichever way it went.
What they need to do now is put the team in place.

The only work going on in reality will be careerism and "taking soundings".

I'm hoping that the more cerebral wing like Jacob or Bernard Jenkin are doing a lot of preparatory work. We need that now the chain has been pulled.

David Cameron ; I'm sure he is imploded but surely the Leave lot don't want him to be doing any exit negotiations. Why have the Leave campaign not got an interim Leader or negotiator pushing forward now?

I can be biased, I don't think you realise what you've lost

Well now that the country has voted out and that the leavers want Free Trade we must get ready for:
-price increases as suppliers will simply pass on tariffs to customers, even if the best scenario is we go World Trade Organisation we will have tariffs.
-car markers going back to the old days where UK cars were 10 to 20% greater in price than the same cars in the Europe lets not forget it was the EU which got UK car prices in line with the rest of Europe, if anything the German car makers may be happy as they will be able to charge what they want for cars in the UK.
-we will become the dumping ground for oversupply of goods including foodstuffs from round the world as we will have a "free trade" which will mean even less manufacturing in this country
I'm not so sure about German cars, we are one of Germany's biggest car customers.

No doubt in the cold light of the day after the future looks less like it has a plan of any kind.
There was one vision. Get out. That has been achieved. Now what?????
There is no particular destination in mind, there is no captain of the ship, there is no map, there isn't even a ship.
There will be months of upheaval trying to elect a Tory leader.
Then there will be two years of divorce proceedings.
All the people who should be out doing trade deals will be caught up in the divorce stuff.
Europe won't make it easy. They will drag it out.
Big business won't faf around waiting for the result. They will allocate capital and resources to economies where there is stability and clarity.

Best case scenario now is two to four years of economic stagnation

quite right folk have to remember you vote for your MP not your PM
DC is still in charge at the moment he should get on with it

News programmes this morning going on about David Cameron's Legacy, in particular gay marriage...Just ask yourself would this have happened if we had not had a coalition with ther Lib-Dems at the time ? The actions of the 2010 - 2015 government gave the electorate a false sense of security about the Conservative agenda when in fact the government's actions were being tempered by moderate people.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but had we had a proper PR http://www.electoral-reform.org.uk/single-transferable-vote in place for electing MPs then maybe the electorate would have voted more eagerly at the 2010 and 2015 elections then this referendum would never have been held because the people would have felt that they were already being represented fairly.

I have alway voted in elections in the full knowledge that my vote would make no difference whatsoever (Biggest Labour majority in the Country).
