Stress get's me going. Even if I'm not consciously worrying about it.

My old employment used to cause me to have to go for a power poo four or five times a day, I was not obviously stressed there, but did not particularly enjoy it, and it was always on my mind.

New job, much better. Other than if there is something worrying me, I'm ok.

Saved a fortune on bog roll!!

Many people say to go all high fibre etc when you've got ibs. In actual fact greasy foods can help some sufferers as fibre just irritates the bowels.

I started eating cereal a couple of weeks ago when it was getting a bit hot for a big cooked breakfast. I think that was what caused a lot of my problem. They are 95% wheat. When I switched to corn flakes things got much better. Is this anything to do with gluten?

@Badshot this is interesting about wheat, I normally have a fried breakfast but now with the hot weather had shreddies for a week, I definitely don't think helped

No cornflakes, no marmite!!! No bread if you can't have Yeast. Flat bread might be ok. No beer, have ti be cider.

I was told to avoid wheat and now make sourdough rye bread which has got rid of gut and back problems. I somehow was persuaded to make white sourdough bread for others which I can eat occasionally with no problems but unfermented wheat flour, especially cakes, makes me very bloated and gives me sore hips. I don't understand this but I've found a way to live with it.

Those probiotic drinks, such as a Actimel are a waste of time and money, as they hardly contain any bacteria. You want VSL3, which contains something like 4 billion bacteria. Wife has to take it, but it is expensive.

Hi, hope this might be some help to someone. I have suffered from ibs on and off for 20+yrs, I tried loads of different treatments over this time, cutting out foods, soluble fibre, insoluble fibre, therapy, hypnotism, etc. I also had the private intolerance test, supposedly I was intolerant to lots of things, my consultant seemed very sceptical of these tests. I've missed out on loads of opportunities just because of needing the toilet 'quickly'!!! Very quickly!!! This last yr my breakthrough has been the use of antidepressants, for me this has been a miracle. I'm not saying I'm cured but life has become a whole lot easier. I believe 'stress' should be examined as much as intolerances, cameras up your bum etc etc. Get yourselves checked out for the nasty things, try not to get too hung up on trying miracle internet solutions and I hope you can get sorted.
