Teachers brainwashing kids on animal rights.(Pigs)

I would get the NFU involved and also complain to Ofsted

This.

At the mention of the words "formal complaint to OFSTED" you will have the head teacher and chair of governors welcoming you in for a chat and a cup of tea.

Do not go to the class teacher. Go straight to the head-teacher, even if you are passed down to the head of year / subject. Repeat - do not go to the class teacher.

Notice how there is no reference to the Author, or more importantly which literature this came from on the headers or footers etc
There is a reference to information taken from that highly respected source of scientific research, a comedy celebrity game show, QI. What more proof could you want?(y)

This week my daughter was given this handout sheet as part of an English lesson exercise, year 7.

I personally find it full of disinformation, essentially 'fake news'.

Is it acceptable?

How/who to approach the school?

The only way to deal with a teacher is to show them correct facts. Ranting and raving won't work because they are generally left wing liberals. If I was you I would draft your own counter document citing references and send that with a covering letter to the head, asking that your information is delivered to the class and the previous information is retracted to the children.

If that does not work go to the governors and same again. If that does not work go to the local council education department with a complaint and get the local paper involved. Teaching children incorrect information is extremely serious as they will form an incorrect opinion and then spread that word.

My child very often comes up with justification for something 'because the teacher said it and teachers don't lie'. Its quite worrying a child trusts a teacher that much.

That is actually disgraceful and frankly if the teacher has put that together of their own back clearly show a proeganda. I would be pushing them out the door if that were the case. A class room is no where for them to push their own beliefs or propegnda. They are there to be neutral!

YEAR 7?!?!? I can only assume they're roughly half way through the school year so this puts your child at 12-13 years old I believe? There is no way that's an appropriate piece to give to a child worded in that way. I would imagine some others could have found it very distressing

Based on my experiance of going through the school complaints system, all I can say us good luck. In reality, you may get humoured with a sypathetic nod, but it won't achieve or change anything (and if anyone is actually in the wrong the staff and govenors will club together to save their backsides rather than deal with a problem). It boils down to a box ticking exercise where no one is prepared to accept accountability anymore.

However, before making any complaint, make sure you read the school's complaints procedure which should be published on their website. If you don't follow this to the letter, you won't get anywhere with either the govenors, local authority or ofsted. I would definately write to your local MP too.

I remember year 7 and if it was me as a student no doubt I would have piped up, when it came to things that seemed to bash farming a bit I always piped up, got a bit heated a few times. Always felt like I was a part time student even during my teen years as I was even then quite heavily involved in the operations at home.

Maybe send it back part burnt, trampled, covered in mud and staple a couple of rashes of bacon to it.... :woot:

By your location I would guess this is a rural school. Some of the governors will be local, so I would complain, in writing to the governing body. Address your complaint to the chair of the governors. Remember the clerk is just that, nothing more. Sadly we are experiencing more colonisation from the urban massses. Charles Moore wrote an excellent article about how the left has ocupied the academic world in the commeng section of today's Daily Telegraph.

my OH has just gone to get the bottle of port to calm herself down !!!!!!

Just make sure you are sure it is not a lesson in teaching kids the difference between unfounded propoganda and evidence based facts , before steaming in to the heads office on monday morning

Make sure you send the head an email to tell them you will be there at 9am sharp and you expect them to be there

Is that leaflet the only handout the children were given?

It looks like part of an english exercise they did when I was at school, with multiple contrasting sources of (mis)information, the objective of which is to study and critic the language and other communication methods being used, rather than morality of the subject. Done right it should make them much more aware and critical of others imposing their opinions.

Even with 15 year olds though I recall that kids were too easily got distracted about what the particular subject rather than thinking about how the arguments were being made, the intentions of who were making them, the use of images and whether claimed facts were actually supported with evidance.

If it is intended to show misinformation and the like then it needs a damned good impartial teacher, I'm sorry but after the odd run ins with my two boys education over the years I'm afraid they're few and far between!

Take them out to a pig farm/beef unit/poultry unit and then to a abattoir. This is reality rather than having their heads pumped full of sh!t at school.

Kids really should know where their food comes from and how it is produced. And may be they would have a bit more respect for the food that is put on their plates.

It doesn't surprise me that organisations such as AnimalAid produce material for use in the classroom but I would expect that a teacher should be VERY careful about using it.
Genuine question: do schools have codes of practice etc about what material the teacher can bring into the classroom? Presumably they'd be careful giving kids material produced by terrorist groups and so forth?
If I were you I'd go through the paragraphs which are presented as fact (ignoring the bits which are opinion) line by line and refute all of the lies with proper references; defra welfare codes etc. that way when you see the head you'll come across as someone that knows what they're talking about not just another disgruntled parent. You never know; the head may be glad if that teacher is regarded as lazy your information may allow the head to apply pressure; official warnings and so on.

Need to find a local pig farm willing to accept school parties then invite the head and governors down to the farm with the intention of organizing school trips for the pupils but only if this propaganda is removed from the school and replaced with actual pupil experience and reports.
My mum did this around 27 years ago.
We had a presentation by someone from the RSPCA about factory farming. I took all the leaflets home and mum went mad. She rang school, and my form tutor invited her in to give the farmer's side. She gave a talk the week after, with lots of questions from my classmates and ended with an invitation to come round our farm the week after, which we did. We looked round the cows, pigs, pet lambs, etc. The highlight for mum was when a lad who'd recently gone vegetarian, turned and said "it's not at all like they said in the leaflets"
