Driving around the Midlands this winter there was an awfull lot of stubble . Due to blackgrass I was told .this next dry week forecast could well save us .I spoke to one big farmer who bales a lot of straw who said he was a lot more optimistic this year than last due to moisture levels .he may well comment himself if he reads thisNope. My barley straw is still in the seed bag!
If arable farmers weren't messed around by straw contractors so much they would be more likely to sell the stuff Not helped by wet Augusts at all. Starw wasn't over £100/t at harvest either. Read @Sid 's straw bale/chop costs in the arable section & you'll see what straw removal costs are instead of just viewing it as an unwanted byproduct fo cereal growing.
