Dacia Duster?

Just what I see everytime I see the name!

Seriously though, my brother has one. He's motor trade and rates it highly although the one time I've been in it, it felt even more agricultural than my old series landy I had fifteen years ago.

Still, I waft about in a '65 VW CC R-line these days so my frame of reference is probably skewed.

I've been driving one of ours since Tuesday as my car is off the road. Utilitarian but no worse than many basic runabouts. I can't stand driving defenders, these are more comfortable for sure but an entirely different motor anyway.

I spent a lot of time in Romania years ago and the country was full of 30 to 40 year old Dacias. They seemed to last for ever despite the roads being in an horrendous condition.

Don't know about the newer ones though.

If budget is where it's at I'd look elsewhere, the South Korean cars are much better built.

Are you sure, heard recently one of them was specially strenthed on the drivers side to enable a good crash test result,
the extra metal was not moved across when converted to RHD

I did not know about that, although I’d be surprised if that was unique to South Korean cars.

RHD cars tend to give poorer results in testing than cars built in LHD format.

I’ve since seen a 3 year old Duster on its side in a scrappies, and also an 9 year old Hyundai on its roof and I can tell which one I’d rather have at the same price.

Its worth looking up rusty dusters forum on the net. If only for the excellent advice on how to reject a car after purchase
