after years of over eating and over drinking, I have started getting my fitness back, so at the moment I am doing 5x 5000 meter row interval training per week on a concept 2.
My intervals are as follows

1000 m 30 sec rest
750m 30 sec rest
500m 30 sec rest
250 m 30 sec rest
250 m 30 sec rest
500m 30 sec rest
750m 30 sec rest
1000m

Started 3 weeks ago and already feel better and actually feel like I miss it on one of my 2 days off. Can now do 5000 meters straight in just over 19 minutes.

Signed up to the rat race next may in Burghley park. Although I hate running except after an odd shaped ball, I reckon the rat race is more exciting,

@Clive maybe we could have a fitness section as I know there are a few on here already posting about their workout and progress.

First it was @Clever Dic, then @Clive and now you're at it:eek:

All us over eaters and over drinkers are going to have to get you guys on 'ignore' so we can use TFF in peace :p

Well done willy. Another concept 2 fan here, I have had mine for about 13 years now and don't use it as much as I should in the summer but winter time it gets more use. Never was much good at the hard and fast stuff, much better suited to the endurance rows. When I was 57, quite some time ago now, I did a half marathon in 1hr 24mins.
I like the fact that you can still get decent exercise when its cold and wet outside.

Long hard road ahead, but feel 10x better mentally especially. I have also cut gluten out. Although the test said I wasn’t celiac, something wasn’t suiting me.

I exercise & do yoga for mental health reasons as much as anything else
Interesting about the gluten. Do you think it IS the gluten, or carbs in general, or yeast, or something else ?
But, if you feel better, go with it :)

Not sure can’t quite pinpoint it maybe wheat intolerance, but if I cut gluten out I’m way better. Symptoms are bloody awful nauseas hangovers, tired, aching elbows and stuffy nose. Seems to go if I have a gluten free week. Also blood pressure drops to a better level.

Probably best well away from the 'Livestock and Forage' section if you want traffic for it. What about as a sub-forum in the Cropping section, where they will all be looking at their expanding wastelines as soon as the Autumn drilling is up together?

Sheep are fairly low key over autumn and winter here, what can you find to mess about with them for over this period:whistle:. Oh wait a minute you are in Wales;) and it gets dark early

Can I poke my nose in and say when at the gym lift weights and go heavy.
When you get to a certain age and I am there now muscle mass just naturally drops away ,lifting heavy helps build that muscle really burns calories for a long time and is good for bones and posture . Do a heavy leg or chest day and your heart will pump plenty for cardio.
Just saying from experience now probably in better shape than when in my 20s
