John Deere 6155r dd or case puma 165cvx

Active 8 although 24 ratios, is effectively only a 17 speed because there's such a big overlap between ranges.

Deere DD also 24 ratio but similarly due to overlap in ratios is very limited to the number of different effective gears.

Both are smooth gearboxes for predominantly transport work.

If the tractor does a lot of PTO work where the engine speed needs fixed, I'd imagine the lack of actual different ratios could become annoying if you're used to a greater number of actual gear ratios than either of them provide. Depends if you're willing to accept the compromise, or used to say the 16 speed electro command 'box from CNH.
Was that a Dynamic Command simulator you were in at Basildon the other day?

Hi, swapping a tractor... maybe, Case puma 165 cvx option1 or jd 6155r DD.
I prefer the jd, I think but it’s a bit dearer

Many thanks in advance

We have just gone from JD to a Case Puma CVX and zero regrets so far. It’s the first of 5 intotal that will be changed on this farm over the next 5 years purely down to price as like for like the new cvx was 15% cheaper than the JD. On 5 tractors that’s going to be around £80,000 saving to this business without accounting for the extra interest on that £80,000 extra.
We think the build quality of both is very similar. The JD cab is a nicer place though but not by much. On the road not a lot in it in terms of braking and lugging capability. The Case is using less fuel though so far by about 5l/hr. It doesn’t seem to use much adblue though having now done 600 hours so far. We couldn’t be happier really so far even though we’ve been JD for 30 years mainly.

The case are £16,000 less than JD new.

The JD therefore have to be worth £16,000 more at trade in value for break even.

They won't be that much greater. The case engines are also far more fuel efficient, so will have cost less to operate.

Deere are lovely tractors to drive, but you are paying for the privilege.

I'm with you on the lock!! but all the demos f different breeds I had if you're working them hard there's bigger all difference in fuel use but add blue is a big difference between them

Add blue and fuel use on 6155
Has been good this autumn vast improvement on 6150.
And is better than puma 165 we had use of .especially the add blue usage.
JD should have gone with add blue sooner.
