I am sure i could drive a a supertanker too.
Cant be that hard.
The tricky bit is parking it, but you usually have a pilot to help out on that front.

I find kiwis are generally quick learners on machinery,
I once put a lad on tw25 and 6 furr semi mounted plough which he handled ok.
Later he admitted he lied about having ploughed before
I was reading just this point in a local history book from 1890, written by our town vicar. He was bemoaning the state of agriculture in the district and blamed it on the fact that all the brightest and best lads had gone overseas to work around the Empire, leaving the lethargic ones behind on their family farms. The Kiwis or Aussies, or any other lad/lass coming from abroad is likely to be brighter than the average. The dull ones stay at home.
It must have been that one, then. It wasn't too far from here and my boots are quite accurate foot measures.13.8m on the demo 8900 doing the rounds. There’s a custom made 18 metre one in Australia for a big CTF outfit.
I also put less over the back with a narrow header as I can travel at what feels like a "reasonable" forward speed without overloading the walkers. I got impatient with snails pace of the wide header, and also tended to overheat the engine.
My baler doesn't need upgrading now and the chaff and chopped straw is more evenly distributed.
I like downsizing.
Here’s my stupid question
Can’t you just go faster in a good crop with a smaller header anyway?
A bigger header doesn’t change how much crop the combine can handle
Think that’s up here somewhere at the moment13.8m on the demo 8900 doing the rounds. There’s a custom made 18 metre one in Australia for a big CTF outfit.
I know people who have bought combines with the smaller header available, say a 24ft was standard and they bought a 20ft, they have always regretted it, not being able to go fast enough without cooking the hydro’s and stubble heights all over the place when you go above 6kph. Like @Andrew said to about more turns and more wasted time etc...Here’s my stupid question

Farm in question runs a tidy outfit,I get my straw next door and always seems a well run unit
I haven't seen the article, but putting 2 and 2 together to make 5 , is this referring to BR? If so i am pretty sure the two new machines he is running are Tucano 580's and not 480's as @Al R suggested
It went back to Lincolnshire last nightThink that’s up here somewhere at the moment
Sorry the last time I looked on claas website they only had the 480 and no 580, same size machine probably though but more about getting the point across as opposed to exact model numbersI haven't seen the article, but putting 2 and 2 together to make 5 , is this referring to BR? Any arable farm worth its salt will have 30ft gateways.Wider header = less turning = higher field efficiency. These guys also have auto-steer and cruise control so they are always at max output. You won’t find many 25 foot gateways either, so it’s header off either way.
