Been to our local dealer twice and never heard back.
Can tell you a good story about or visit to a Merc car dealership in the city to buy a car, it ended with manager begging us to go back in & do a deal with him , but it was to late, must have been 25 people in the place & you could hear pin drop when we left, went to a Toyota dealer & bought a GT86 in stead

To be fair I've always been an owner rather than a financer - don't owe anyone a penny. But for peace of mind when my LR dies I'll likely lease - tax, tyres, warranty all taken care of is peace of mind, especially as cars get more complicated.

Whats wrong way it is when the sh!t hits the fan and you have a bad year be it poor yeilds, cows not in calf or terrible weather you stil have the payments to make. The man that works way lesser stuf and owns it will never go bang but plenty that just buys whatever they like whether they can afford it or not ends up in big financial diffs

Joe public buying cars on Credit will be fine as they always find work enough to pay for a new £60k Range Rover, for just £450/month

PCP is aimed at consumers not farmers

Made the same switch last year.
Car that would be almost £40k to buy costing £13k to lease for 3 years, road tax included.
Can’t see how buying a car new or secondhand could work out any cheaper. New and you’d loose a lot more than than in depreciation over 3 years and used you could be into unexpected bills once out of warranty.
I'll take my chances after 3 years seeing i keep them a minimum of 10
When your not doing many miles a year non of them PCP plans make any sence whatsoever, id lease one if i was doing the miles & thats no use to me neither
Buy under a year old, the VAT is pretty much gone on a Car that is & its a far far better buy with some warranty left.

How is it any more efficient from jd s perspective havin less or more dealers. Dont see how it would cost them money
If JD are selling the numbers why do they want to drop dealers , the privately owned dealer buys the tractors from JD and sell them , everybody makes money , JD tops the sales charts , here in Ireland they started this crap 4 or 5 years ago , they dropped two very good dealers , the dealers were disgusted at being dropped , took on a new agency straight away and held most of their customers with the new brand which was NH in one case and deutz in the other. JD are now not number one anymore because of this ,, then they made the other super dealers open new premises in these areas , but these have not worked out , with one branch since closing and nearly brought the whole business down. Some clown in America looking at a map deciding that you only need dealers 150 miles apart , that's ok when the farmer has his own aeroplane to go to the dealer but that's not how it works in the uk and Ireland. Best of luck to these dealers with their new franchises .

I don't think @james ds mentioned Valtra once in his post,my dealer is Sharmans and I'm pretty cheese off with JD at the moment and he summarises exactly how I feel ?especially when my yard is full of their equipment plus there is now a 6155r and Gator missing of that picture now!

Merry Christmas Everyone? especially to those who are affected by this.

If you are John Deere man at heart you will still buy them and run them in the future regardless of who the dealership is

The strength of the brand and complete and utter blind loyalty of its customers is probably unlike anything in any other market or industry?

It seems that JD can literally do whatever they want and farmers/contractors will continue to buy their machines...!

All most all the dealership in our area have changed makes in the last few years, the dealership that was 10 miles away is now 30 but they still give good service and do lots of business, give it a few years and everything will be fine again.it takes balls for a company like JD to do this and lots more will follow

It is nothing new. Two years ago it was MF. Then Valtra. It is an ongoing consolidation of the supply industries.
Dealers have been getting bigger and further afield and changing brands ever since the late 1950's if not before. This subject doesn't come up quite as often as 'pickups' but it is a regular one. Dealers come and go. Brands only tend to 'go', or be submerged into bigger brands. Dog eat dog.

So are you upfront about wanting a cash deal or do you negotiate the asking price down on the basis you’re buying on finance and then spring it on them in the end?

I was tempted to try the second approach but left it open for a bit then told them. One dealer actually told me to sign up for the PCP to get the discounts etc, pay the deposit then cancel it withing the 14 day cooling down period and pay the balance!!

Take your blind fold off and you might see a bit more , I'm entitled to my opinion as far as I know there is free speech allowed here , your the clown talking utter bulls**t here , your brain and a pea have a lot in common , there a bit small, I've nothing against JD , JD dropped dealers here and their sales have fallen , now they are dropping top dealers in the uk who gave their customers great service , I know a lot of farmers who will stay loyal to that good local dealer and if he gets a good new brand then most of his customers will stay with him . What JD are forgetting when they look at their dealer map, is that this is not America , farmers mostly like to deal locally , their forgetting that that dropped dealer doesn't usually disappear , he usually takes on a new agency and his customers stick with him . JD have dropped from number 1 to 3 here since they dropped two good dealers and the same will happen in the uk.
