They can’t do it, round tube but not box or rectangle.

Thought exactly that, priced a machine from baleigh, 68k to do 100mmx50x6mm wall tube. Will most likely make a draw tube bender to suit my needs. Can make dies from hardox.

Would a ring roller do something with them? We’ve put 40x40 through sheet rollers....

Barnshaw want silly money and silly lead time. 10 weeks I think was the time frame.

Just weld up a box one in square section rather than have one bent?

From what I gather from speaking to companies, it needs a mandrel bender to stop it crushing. most annoying thing is there’s a company 10 miles away that can do it but won’t due to the machine being ww2 era and no parts available if it breaks which I get, what you said earlier, getting some thing or making some thing then offering it as a service.

For now making one from plate and will fold in in the press as it’s front rear mount. Didn’t know if any one had a rotten front rear mount flail I could buy the headstock from on the of chance.

It’s for a brand new prototype, technically, the rolled tube is the cheapest way as it’s just rolled tube, that said, it only applies if you have the ability to roll it. [emoji85] which I don’t right now, not cost effectively! Giving me a headache, you would think making the flail rotor would be hardest part but that’s pretty straight forward.

Trawl through the insurance write offs at Hewitts etc until you find a suitable donor machine?

Why not use round tube. Far more companies can form that and it has structurally similar properties to square tube, just need a bit more fussing about when you weld it.

Mostly because it’s ugly, pedantic I know, aesthetics are important to me making machinery. I like thing to not just function but look properly engineered too.

Yes rolling a box and bending it to that angle is two very different process isn’t it. I would think you would struggle to get tube to bend tidily to such an angle aswell. Look forward to see if you find a machine.
