Looking for a Headstock

Evening,

Looking for a headstock or two for a project, some thing off a buggered flail, either front/rear mount or just front similar to the one in the picture. Can’t find any one to bend rectangle box.

Well there’s your answer, set up to bend and roll box section and be the only one who does it. Win, win!! :):)
I’m now actually googling what setup would be needed......

Thought exactly that, priced a machine from baleigh, 68k to do 100mmx50x6mm wall tube. Will most likely make a draw tube bender to suit my needs. Can make dies from hardox.

Would a ring roller do something with them? We’ve put 40x40 through sheet rollers....

From what I gather from speaking to companies, it needs a mandrel bender to stop it crushing. most annoying thing is there’s a company 10 miles away that can do it but won’t due to the machine being ww2 era and no parts available if it breaks which I get, what you said earlier, getting some thing or making some thing then offering it as a service.

But what's the structural benefit of expensive rolled box in that situation? Why not use welded sections or tube? ....or rusty old angle iron like the rest of us![emoji6]

It’s for a brand new prototype, technically, the rolled tube is the cheapest way as it’s just rolled tube, that said, it only applies if you have the ability to roll it. [emoji85] which I don’t right now, not cost effectively! Giving me a headache, you would think making the flail rotor would be hardest part but that’s pretty straight forward.

Why not use round tube. Far more companies can form that and it has structurally similar properties to square tube, just need a bit more fussing about when you weld it.

Mostly because it’s ugly, pedantic I know, aesthetics are important to me making machinery. I like thing to not just function but look properly engineered too.

Yes rolling a box and bending it to that angle is two very different process isn’t it. I would think you would struggle to get tube to bend tidily to such an angle aswell. Look forward to see if you find a machine.
