Looking for a Headstock

Sounds like you've spoken to different companies already, but I'd of thought speaking to fabrication companies would help as they might have had some box bent up for something or other. Other than that, laser cut the arch and bend the plate to match it? Lots of welding though

We laser cut and bend plate in-house, that is an option but for production it isn’t an option making a rounded headstock from cut profiles as the welding takes to long. Would be strong but time would be a killer.

I ended up with this on my hybrid Votex.

Here you go, just what you need, a Maschio topper that has forward and rear pick up points so has two sets of linkage:

That would do the job. I know they want £70 for registration, no idea what shipping would be to Kent. £150 ish I imagine.

Biggest issue is what category write off it is, some items in these sales are only able to be bid on by registered breakers, waste management rules I think. Best to check before spending £70 on registration.

That one is a breaker only. Can’t buy it my self. I do have a friend with a breakers licence so maybe a potential.

What about using a tube laser to cut little keyways out of the box, then forming it as 4 or 5 smaller bends? It means welding up and grinding the welds off but can look very similar when painted?

That’s an option,

Need to find some one with a tube laser local to me. Not many around I don’t thing that are any good. Chinese ones are questionable at best.

Do Hub Le Bas cover your area, seem to remember they can do it but may sub it out. If it’s a one off, or even production, transport may be cheap as lots of foreign lorries running empty to Dover?

Gutteridges in Spalding are good.

I can buy from the and have it shipped, ideally more local the better. After you sent that I did fire an email to the company who made my plasma to see if they make one and how much they are.

I was in the middle of drawing up parts this week to make a draw tube bender to do what we need but my hard drive decided to quit Thursday so that has thrown a spanner in the works.

I have access to SolidWorks and SolidEdge and do some contract work if I can be of any help?

That might be of help if I can get every thing off the laptop soon. Appreciate it.

The plan is to make a 15t capacity draw tube bender to be able to bend 125x60x6 box.

Will look at getting a tube plasma for now I think to cut the box. Like to do as much in-house as possible.
