Draper Expert tools and comparable makes.

What do you think of the quality of Draper Expert mechanics tools ,what other make/brand is comparable to draper, on quality and price. Today I did a job with the help of someone using their hand tools ,which makes me think I should buy a set of parallel punches for driving out roll pins including tiny ones, and also with difficulty managed to remove two very small circlips with out circlip pliers, and replace them, but something would not like to try again ,so would like to purchase set of circlip pliers.
As I will use these type of tools very rarely I do not wish to pay Snap On tool prices ,also from past experience tools usually end up getting lost when literally used out in the field. Any suggestions welcome.

Their spanners are very good both combinations and cranked version, screwdrivers etc are ok same as 3/4” sets but we’ve not been so fortunate with 1/2” sets so do what you may of that. I’ve got some snap on and some Bergen parallel punches that have had serious amount of abuse.

Plenty of makes you can look at, Us Pro, Bergen, Sealey etc. Beta, Britool, Teng will be a better brand but priced accordingly. Personally I avoid Siegen, Kamasa, Amtech, Rolson and a few others I remember when seeing the names. A lot are now going for Halfords tools due to lifetime guarantee. As a farmer you can get a trade card for further duscounts aswell.

You mention circlip pliers, I can honestly say that I believe that they’re one of the worst tool that Snap on /Blue Point produce!! my collection of cheapies are better than the extortionately priced set that I have!! Their only saving grace is that grudgingly If you can track him down the Snap on dealer will replace brocken ones!!!

Remember reading on here a few years back that Draper expert spanners and sockets are the same as Halfords advanced professional.

No idea if correct or not but the Halfords ones are highly regarded by most on here.

If I remember ,somebody on here said Halfords tools were made by Facom

I've just bought myself a set of snazzy knipex circlip pliers, rendering redundant my perfectly adequate Beta set.

4 pliers, internal/external, straight/90deg. Decent enough quality. Good condition, lightly used (which is why I just *had* to buy a set of Knipex...).

Make me an offer. Can take some pics if you want.

A mix of Bacho and Halfords Pro Here... I was lead to believe Halfords was Facom.

I bought a Silverline set due to a load of Halfords tools going walkies... They live in the "Smash On" bucket for rough Jobs,

Have a few Draper tools the roll cab Is well built. Odd spanners haven’t Brocken them but when compared to better makes they are a bit short for their size .circlip plyers knipex take some beating.ive recently bought a few pairs to filll in the gaps in sizes it makes jobs so much quicker and easier having the right size .

Two or three years ago the local parts shop took on Teng Tools and when I've a few spare yo-yo 's I buy some.
Amazing how quickly a good set of tools comes together.......................................................................
we have a few teng tools and like them .just bought a teng 3/8 socket set this week as having trouble working on modern cars with 1/2 inch drive doe to them cramming more stuff in under the bonnet.

Draper expert are very decent tools, I certainly have plenty draper kit, knipex pliers etc in my tool boxes.
My mate since going self employed 15 years or so ago now has a lot of Kennedy spanners & other kit, they come from Cromwell tools & they look very good quality indeed, he likes them a lot.

I recently bought two puller kits from Cromwell and was a bit concerned they'd be cheap (they were) and nasty (they weren't), sure, not a Sykes quality but plenty good enough for some rough farm work that involves big hammers and stupid long pry bars! I would certainly consider their kit again.... service was excellent too.

Which make of chisels and punches are made of really good metal that dont chip/ bend . I dont want to buy a thin parallel punch that is as soft as muck, useless!!!!

Only pulled two bearings so far..... not really a job I do if I can avoid it! I got the hydraulic kit with three sets of legs, three leg and two leg spiders and bearing separators..... I can't see the kit on the site now. The other kit was the slide hammer one with internal and external legs.
