Workboots

There is some thinking now that ankle support leads to weak ankles & tendons, if you constantly wore a hard cast to support your wrists after a while your wrists would become very weak.
You want your joints and muscles to be doing the work or else they will just get lazy and your posture, gait, and joints could suffer. The same goes for arch support and cushioning etc. It's horses for courses though but I would be careful if you were working all the time in them. There's a balance to be had

Will the above theory prevent one rolling ones ankle??? I think not
But 7”or 8” inch high boots will certainly help.

I've gone away from dealer boots as they don't offer any ankle support, got a pair of boots from Engelbert strauss now. Lace ups.

These Ambler AS 995 look interesting too.

Are those englebert Strauss any good? They look pretty solid

I can’t see past the Strauss boots, last really well. Very comfy once broken in. Can’t remember the type I got, but leather high lacing safety boots.
Wife convinced me to buy 3 pairs pre-Brexit, just in case.........
Nearly £300 invested in footwear in my wardrobe 😳

Probably wise though. I looked into it a bit and the recent reviews are pretty bad mainly due to brexit related delivery issues. I may avoid for now

Great! just the ones I ordered for this year, right for 40 degree's Aude temperatures :)

I was after zips because I hate having to lace up the boots, spend more time doing that than working and obviously I've got to see the good wife....

Any other ones which have ankle support, zip and better for the summer? - I'll have to see if Redbacks ship here.
It’s a bit tricky to get them direct now because the guy who imports them to the uk has got Europe sown up so it is difficult to import direct from oz. There are a number of U.K. suppliers who will send them over here though but they are uk prices. Well worth it in my opinion, I live in them most of the year.

I've just rolled my ankle on Monday,I've been wearing Buckler dealer type safety boot, had two pairs now, last just about a year, before that wore lace up type but high ankle support, going back too lace up,like the easier slip on slip off,but I've got a proper knackered my ankle now,and yes it f*cking hurts.

Having done it myself I sympathise with you.
I have never worn elastic sided dealer boots and never will due to lack of ankle support.

Mine are very similar but made by Justin. Probably a bit more support than dealer boots but not enough to make difference.

I have a pair of Justin “dress” boots, about 30 years old, on their 2nd or third set of leather soles.
Still going strong 👍
Wore them yesterday in the mud at the local show, a quick wash & polish this morning, then they’ll go to a posh picnic in the hills today

thats why elastic sided "safety" boots now arent approved on many mine, construction or industrial sites here. Even our local town council are phasing out elastic sides and supplying only lace up or zip sided boots to staff.

thats why the zip sided boots are so popular here. The security & adjustabilty of laces, with the ease of entry due to the zip

The “posh picnic” sounds to be a nice change from work (y) (y)
Plan a picnic over here and it’s bound to rain
