Power harrow pto speed and forward speed

If you are on stones ground you have to run at 1000 , otherwise the cam clutch won’t cut out when it should and you will break something else.
I’d agree with this, if you’ve a lot of stones, l was always told the harrow will take less harm if it’s running at the correct speed.

I thought yours was a T7.210, its 185 on the shaft. I run mine on 1000e but just 3m.
If it’s 210 on the engine, then we have almost the same power in front. With a packer in front, lifting is no issue for me.
It says 210 on the bonnet but that’s max boost at the flywheel not what gets to the wheels
end of the day it’s a 165hp mid size Swb frame new Holland that does bloody well all things considered especially on our hills.
Although I’m sure once @Nearly posts a picture of his drilling outfit it will make us all look stupid

Keep forward speed at where it's still doing a job.
Slow down for tough spots, speed up in the light land

Cam clutch still kicks out at lower revs .
And that's one that's been adjusted up to make it stay in better amongst stones!!

More torque at lower revs though.
I'm not fussed what it is I'm just pointing out it still kicks out fine . In our bad bits with a standard cam clutch you won't go 10yrds without it kicking out so they get screwed up a bit and they still knock out when needed

I drop pto speed to 800 as that’s where fuel economy seems to be best, makes no odds to job power Harrow does but definitely wears tines less for me

Just pointing out a slower turning shaft has more torque than a faster turning one, I’ve seen rotors in balers bent because in a light row the operator insisted on baling at 400rpm and the harm was done long before the clutch could help it.
No it will break something before it kicks out , it takes a good bang to cut it out , so going slower the clutch does not work as safely as it should.
Not broken owt yet in 20 + yrs of doing this so I'll keep taking the chance

coulters look light weight , but they do put it in well ,
always run harrow at around 650 in easy going ,only 1000 on the heavier stuff ,
Thanks for replies, running a power harrow at a slower pto speed takes less power therefore the tractor can pull it faster do we think?

I know soil type, ground conditions, depth and clod board can influence forward speed.
Wheel eradicator tines a must in my opinion especially on ploughed/soft ground!
