Lots are ordering now [or not] for immediate use but I was ordering today for after first silage cut. Don’t usually order that until May.surely 95% of farmers will have this years fert requirements bought by now?
Hopefully some of the beauracratic nonsense like that will get left behind at least in the short term. If farmers can't grow any food because they can't afford fertiliser and there's no wheat or eggs or milk for Boris to have his egg and soldiers with his cup of tea every morning he might just tell them to forget that new legislation for a bit!Yes but, but, but, the new regulations when they are enforced next year will mean that I’m not allowed to spread a thousand tons of my own slurry on my own land. Great logic that!
surely it cant stack up for anything but wheat at over 900/t?Lots are ordering now [or not] for immediate use but I was ordering today for after first silage cut. Don’t usually order that until May.
because they would need to order it to allow delivery time etc etc?
How do they go about policing that?Yes but, but, but, the new regulations when they are enforced next year will mean that I’m not allowed to spread a thousand tons of my own slurry on my own land. Great logic that!
To cover fert price increase, I need £6.85/kg deadweight for lamb, and store cattle to kick at the door of £3/kgsurely it cant stack up for anything but wheat at over 900/t?

Some of us ordered in January for March delivery, but begining to wonder which March, and what price. Will it be like fuel and price on day of delivery? Troubled times, surely 95% of farmers will have this years fert requirements bought by now?
Yep, won't be buying any, wasn't going to at £650 so defo not now, something will grow I spose but feck working for a fert company. There’s going to be some organic farming this year
Shut the whole lot down as far as im concerned at them prices im out !Just had a price for Nitram. £955/ton for artic load and CF 24-8-8 plus sulphur at £905/ton, again artic loads. If you haven’t yet secured your Spring fertiliser needs, don’t leave too long. Delivery dates now stretch two to three weeks hence and there may not be any to order again soon. Yara have shut their continental factories it seems.
dont quite know what the big dairy boys will do , they are shoveling it on in a normal year plus they are paying over the odds for summer cutting ground , cant see how hauling silage over 10 miles will add up this yearShut the whole lot down as far as im concerned at them prices im out !
Dont know ? Worry about my own probs no one elses .dont quite know what the big dairy boys will do , they are shoveling it on in a normal year plus they are paying over the odds for summer cutting ground , can see how hauling silage over 10 miles will add up this year
Livestock farmers are being properly screwed at the moment.i didnt realise how bad the situation was for stock farmers till i read this, ive bn speaking mostly grain guys that got fert cheap and selling wheat now, story couldnt be more different
You are not all arable though are you? I'd have thought you were livestock as well where you are.i didnt realise how bad the situation was for stock farmers till i read this, ive bn speaking mostly grain guys that got fert cheap and selling wheat now, story couldnt be more different
you forgot electric! To cover fert price increase, I need £6.85/kg deadweight for lamb, and store cattle to kick at the door of £3/kg
That doesn't include red diesel or feed price hikes. Nor does it include whatever crazy money straw bedding will be
Something has to give
Yes but i bought fert a while ago, looks like im going to be using the grain cheque to subsidise the cattles fert in year aheadYou are not all arable though are you? I'd have thought you were livestock as well where you are.
If not, there will be a lot of animals going for early slaughter this Spring and Summer. The first 120 units per acre may well pay somewhat with a rapid decline in viability as use increases. Many farmers will choose to just farm through it, but a large number just will not be able to afford it and to carry on producing food at this rate.surely it cant stack up for anything but wheat at over 900/t?
