Fertiliser price for those that miss it in Arable section

Livestock farmers are being properly screwed at the moment.
I would say there's two very different types of arable farmer at the moment there are those that have still got a quarter, third or maybe half of there 2021 crop to sell and they bought there fert in June or July.
Then there's the other half who sold a lot off the combine and early on for £170 a ton and have only just bought their fert
Yes it’s worth remembering that some of us do have to sell some off the combine . Anyone reading the crops price thread would think we are all selling wheat at £300 ton . In my opinion, paper trading and speculators shouldn’t be allowed in essential commodities . I usually buy fertiliser in June, but thought £280 was a big jump from the £197 I’d paid the year before so declined . I did come to my senses when it got to £350 and bought all we need then .
I can understand people not buying early as storage is an issue. If your buildings are full of livestock and fodder, where do you put fertiliser .

If not, there will be a lot of animals going for early slaughter this Spring and Summer. The first 120 units per acre may well pay somewhat with a rapid decline in viability as use increases. Many farmers will choose to just farm through it, but a large number just will not be able to afford it and to carry on producing food at this rate.
Last Monday we sold 50 texel x breeding ewe lambs and Monday there are another 50 going.

I‘m clearing out as I think money will be tight at the breeding sales.

It would be very interesting to know what utilisation % of grass grown is on a lot of farms. The way I see it the moment you spend on it to grow more of it, unless you make total use of the extra production it's quite costly? I think when straw was so short/expensive a lot of farmers realised how little they can actually get away without using and I'm of the opinion the same will be of fertiliser. But that's only my opinion and its not to say its right or wrong. Edit. On grassland that is, not arable.
Set stocked or in any field over 7 days utilisation will be 50%.....
Goes up to about 60-70% on 3-4 day moves and up to 80% on 1-2 day moves and 90% if you move them more than once a day.
And you will grow more grass and the stock do better if you move your stock more.

i didnt realise how bad the situation was for stock farmers till i read this, ive bn speaking mostly grain guys that got fert cheap and selling wheat now, story couldnt be more different
I’m the only fella in this valley with fert on farm. Most need to wait for store cattle to be sold before dipping their toe in the fertmarket . Any relying on chicken muck going to be disappointed as well
