Looking for a bullet proof diesel ride on for a few field edges plus verges and would do a decent job on the lawn as well. Seen a JD 1545 with a flail deck recommended but can't find one for sale, any other ideas? I'm always short on time so something quick would be good.

I've nothing in stock. But anything diesel with a Kubota, iseki, Deere, shibaura badge will be sound. What budget are you thinking?

Recommend looking at zero turns, given your always short on time, the maintenance is a lot easier on zero turns. Are you mowing rough ground, underneath trees, hillsides? Havent got experience with flail deck, but i wouldnt expect that to give a nice finish on lawns or semi nice grass areas

It's generally not too rough ground but too much hard work for a domestic machine as I don't cut it as regularly as I should, there's always something more pressing to do than grass cutting. So need something that will cope with longer grass when get round to it.
