2000 to 3000What’s a realistic price per sq m to build a 4 bed farm house now? Ballpark ?
yes..?Doesn’t it work the opposite on the other side of the world?
whys isn't it more common to have mashing machine and tumble drier upstairs? saves carrying everything down and back up again (leaving it on the stairs)Probably a bit late now but to add to all the good ideas here, I would put a laundry Shute in. Possibly even a laundry room/drying room setup. It’s a sh!t job and may as well make it as easy as possible.

We put a chute from the children's bathroom into the laundry. I still can't get them to put the washing into it!Probably a bit late now but to add to all the good ideas here, I would put a laundry Shute in. Possibly even a laundry room/drying room setup. It isn't a cheap thing to do properly, the fire regs are the killer. We managed to pick a kit up for 200 quid but it should have been 1500+
People use washing lines.
People often wash at night, it’s noisy
I'd agree with the washing line point if it was for more than half of the year? otherwise you're better off not carrying everything down and back up again!People use washing lines.

Recently back from Austria.Insulation. I saw a section of a German house wall. Wood framed with void filled with hemp. Then 6" of foam covered with expanded metal and Tirolean finish.
"This house does not really need heating" That is what the guide told me.
I have a photo of a section of wall and can find if there is interest.
Another feature I have see in central Europe is a huge block oftern covered with ornate tiles In the middle is a wood fire . The block acts a a giant heat store. If you have the time go have a look at Czech , Austrian and South German houses. The make us look as though we are in the dark ages.
