Obtain reference samples from intake, check your meter against them, record the expected "no discrepancy found" in your diary, happy days.

What meter is it? We have an old marconi that has its own testing block. RT were happy at inspection that we test ourselves. Why would they not be...

One good thing about Marconi meters is that once they are set up properly they are very stable and don’t drift much over time, which is more than can be said for a number of others.
Our '47 Marconi now making the WB 17%, forcing us to start, reluctantly, tomorrow.

:arghh:

Always check the meter using rescently harvested new crop for drying and harvest decisions

the once stored for a while recheck with stored samples before loading

calibration once a year is inherently more inaccurate

the ideal is to calibrate before every day of usage easly done from a sample bag of known moisture of the variety being tested

No.

We have 3 TF933As and this was our very first.
Hi again, if this is a TF933A then I have to question your mention of 1947, as the model was not introduced until 1951-2, the TF933 plain was launched in 1949...

It doesn’t really matter of course, they are very fine old instruments but I half wondered if you had an earlier model like a TF819 or TF842.... Not so many of those about...😉😉

If you would like to tell me the serial numbers of the three meters I can probably date them more accurately.

The meters of that time were all black cased and had a square back on the stowage compartment.
Later models have a sloping back (to match the front panel casing) and then the colour changed to silver grey hammer finish towards the end of the 50’s/60’s.

A ‘B’ model was introduced in 1967, lasting only a short while until 1972 when the ‘C’ came along.
The ‘D’ was much later...

Hope it helps, if you ever need them servicing and calibrating to original makers spec you know where I am.
Advice is always free.

I have to question your mention of 1947,
:oops::oops:

The four Marconis currently in use here are as follows (in decreasing order of certainty).

(4) TF933B purchased 1968.
(3) TF933A silver-grey 1964
(2) TF933A black case 1955
(1) TF933A black case, inherited from my old Dad and always thought by me to have arrived on the farm along with his Penney and Porter coal-fired grain drier in July 1947.

Two points arise from my embarrassing error :-

(A) How did they run the drier without a moisture meter from 1947 to 1952?

(B) Given that it's done only 70 seasons and not 75 as previously claimed, I confidently expect it to do five more, which will be more than enough to see me out.

Morning @Lodekka We have a 933A in need of a cable asap! The one from the box to the clamp. Have you any in stock and post today? Thanks
Hi, I can certainly supply a cable (£10 plus postage), but I am away until Wednesday evening - if you PM me your address I can get one sent in the post on Thursday... if that helps. Assume postage is no more than £5...

I accept a bank txfr for payment if I reply to your email with the details.
Apologies, best i can do just now.
Regards
Nigel
