Something to watch!

Looks like glyphosate is being banned as a desiccant for milling oats in Europe, not here at the moment but I suspect it might happen.

Is there anything left in the arsenal to desiccate uneven crops?

Glysophate on oats here is a two tier pricing. Sprayer is discounted until the train isn’t filled then a blind eye gets turned. oats here will stay green long past after the heads are ripe. Swathing is the fasted way to get it thru the combine. Even three/four days will make a huge difference. Having close rows and swathing across the drill rows will hold the swath off the damp ground.

Chasing swaths is okay, so long as the swather man doesn't leave too many beaver huts.
I've had oats for 20yrs, and never once used 360 on them.
But I do live in the soft South.

Swathers here we come...

I once tried growing springs without dessicating. Blooming things just kept on growing every time it rained. The heap in the shed smelt like hay. Before it got red hot that is.

Anyway, having obviously earned that lesson I'm growing some organically this year...

I expect it to be fun
I used to grow them for an Organic neighbour

never had much problem cutting them, they tended to die off well without any N under them
