Legal use of the word steak

Shurely.......

The correct interpretation, in English, of a vegan steak, would be a wholesome chunk of meat derived from a vegan.
As all my cattle and sheep are vegans, I think I've just spotted a new market......

If we can't stop them calling a pile of crap in a certain shape, a sausage, burger or steak
we should be able to sell meaty vegan sausages etc.
So if going by your logic, a vegan steak is a steak derived from a vegan........I really don’t fancy trying a vegan sausage.?

It's all meat substitutes

Pies

Sausage rolls

Cheeses

Milk

Butter

Sticking your heads in the sand hoping it will go away is not an option

Wait until you see the meat family program on channel 4 on Wednesday

Your and my industry is under attack as never before the older generation will stick with you

I am having a fight at home with an 18 year old daughter tho

McDonald's and the others are already selling alternatives to protect their business for the future.
I think you make a fair comment about producing what the market wants. I guess it will be the food manufacturers and retailers who make the cash though, whilst liveatock farmers suffer a lowering of demand for their produce.

Less livestock would mean less market for feed grains.

Maybe we should commission scaremongering tv programmes (or internet ads) about the diseases and metabolic disorders that can come about from a vegan diet. Also show ancient pastures being ploughed up for lentil fields, and mice being burried alive by the ploughs, and list all the e numbers in some veggie burgers.

Only one in every thousand people are Vegan and the majority of the 99.9% of the rest of the world aren't too bothered.

I need to be on that show - if an animal is bred for eating that is what it is. Well treated, quickly slaughtered, prepared and eaten with great enjoyment and with thanks for its existence. Its not difficult.

I suspect they will find people that have never seen a whole animal dead and have never thought about how an animal goes from live to dead to food. That is sad and shows a great lack of thinking about all that happens to make your life be as it is.

The word pet is problem I have

Equates to eat your cat or dog or go vegan

Given that choice it's an easy choice

But linking a baby calf to a pet is taking fooking liberties

It's time the like of Henson and his gang to show the counter argument

I presume everyone here that is so outraged will also be taking the fight to Unilever for daring label their product 'sun cream' when I don't believe it contains any cream.

No because the application is different

One is a food source the other is a medicine and not trying to imitate a food substance. (its not sold as dairy sun cream)

So the argument is different what is being done is, imitating a product of animal origin and advertising / selling a none animal origin version under the clear objective of imitation designed to deceive or imply that the imitator is an equivalent product.

Not so apealing if you state the facts

What is Quorn mince meat made of?
Quorn is sold as both a cooking ingredient and as the meat substitute used in a range of prepackaged meals. All Quorn foods contain mycoprotein as an ingredient, which is derived from the Fusarium venenatum fungus and is grown by fermentation.

What's wrong with Quorn?
The chunks of imitation meat are nutritious, but the prepared foods in which they are used may be high in fat or salt. Some consumers are sensitive to Quorn products, resulting in vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, and, less often, hives and potentially fatal anaphylactic reactions.

above quotes taken from the internet and not my words

should we start advertising fresh meat as an alternative to this made made product its all down to education
lets fight fire with fire instead of thinking this is going to be a flash in the pan (no pun intended).
