I keep seeing vegan substitutes being promoted as steak

I,e Greg's vegan steak bakes

Surely the food industry and farmers should be challenging this in court
Along the same lines as the protected foods legislation

Champagne
Cornish pasties
Melton mowbray pork pies

They are using terms for animal cuts of meat to sell none meat products
Just seems perverse to me.

Over to you NFU

I think it's great, it shows how keen vegans are to copy our brilliant product and it pulls the bricks out from under their argument.

Why try to copy something that's so terrible? :)

Every time they take a vegan ‘steak’ out of it’s plastic packaging, they will see the label and be reminded of the succulent, juicy, healthy product they are missing, hastening their return to righteousness. With luck, they’ll bring the ‘cram it down everyone’s throats’ attitude that they’ve learnt in their dalliance, and tell all and sundry how good we’ll hung, locally sourced beef steaks really are whenever they’re asked the time of day.?

Yes but if they had to label it as it is

How does soya processed corn bake appeal.

Not so advertising friendly

What happens if the vegans get none meat products protected as steak and stop you using the term steak

All good business use intellectual rights for product's

My wife bought a cheese and ham toastie from costa, when she took it to the counter to be cooked she was asked if she wanted it done separately to my daughters which was chicken something or other. Asking why she was told it was vegan!! f**king ham and cheese?? She isn’t the most observant when it comes to checking labels and I’ve had a fair few words when I’ve turned over a packet of food and seen where it was produced. Knowing her it probably had vegan written all over it in bright green, but calling it ham and cheese WTF!

Doing the Christmas shop and I came across these

I guess “jackfruit and hoisin rolls” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it

They are all using "traditionally associated " words and meanings for totally different products and contents.
Trading standards will possibly have deluge of complaints???

Exactly so what are we doing about it
Bu66er all, from what I can see

It's not just steak either......

...wrong on so many levels.....Lincolnshire sausages should contain pigs.

Another one....
Almond milk - it's not milk, it's almond juice, FFS :banghead:
If that's right (which it is not) and you work on the same system, orange juice would be called orange milk.

Scandalous

Should be called ‘Lincolnshire cylinders’.

All vegan sausages should be called ‘Plant based Cylinders’

If Saatchi and Saatchi are looking in im available ;)

Shurely.......

The correct interpretation, in English, of a vegan steak, would be a wholesome chunk of meat derived from a vegan.
As all my cattle and sheep are vegans, I think I've just spotted a new market......

If we can't stop them calling a pile of crap in a certain shape, a sausage, burger or steak
we should be able to sell meaty vegan sausages etc.

It's all meat substitutes

Pies

Sausage rolls

Cheeses

Milk

Butter

Sticking your heads in the sand hoping it will go away is not an option

Wait until you see the meat family program on channel 4 on Wednesday

Your and my industry is under attack as never before the older generation will stick with you

I am having a fight at home with an 18 year old daughter tho

McDonald's and the others are already selling alternatives to protect their business for the future.

Maybe one of us should start producing and selling a vegetable steak bake in a bakers (ingredients include veg and small amounts of steak). Don't tell the vegans there is steak in it unless they ask, but make it known a few years later :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
