Cut today . No point have grass and no weather .seen it so many times. People wait for it too bulk up and the weather breaks and they end up with old grown rubbish

Leaf drys quicker that thick stemBone dry ground at least 10 days dry forecast but not fully mature but I can’t resist ??

My neighbour tried may hay last year. Took him 2 weeks to wilt it and even then it was touch and go with the moisture probe.

This is totally unprecedented weather for May (here at least) - it'll make better now than any normal May, and better than it will in July if its raining every day.

I made some hay on hls land couple years ago in a drought. Cut it one day wilted in the swath for 2 then rowed and baled. Easiest hay I've ever made and it smelled fantastic.

I tried to make hay in July last year was down for a Month , and I still have to look at the shite everytime I go in the shed . Lost the good weather by being greedy

I agree it does to start with, but leafy grass takes a lot of drying to get that last bit of moisture out of it.
We have 10ac that is too strong for grazing and I'm tempted to try it for hay in small bales for the sheep, but I've tried very early stuff before and it takes a long time to dry.
But if it had long enough it would probably be be worth a shot.

That’s the trouble, they go as soft as shite, I wouldn’t attempt to make hay in May no matter how hot it was, middle to the end of June here
