Fly prevention?

Last year we had a few issues with fly strike on our lambs, we were using crovect and did a couple applications on the lambs. None of them died, but it did stall us from selling them for a while. This year we were thinking of buying clik instead but it’s much more expensive, is it worth it?

YES!! I held out for years maintaining it was far too dear compared too Crovect. Then was going on holiday in July so Clik’d all the lambs. Best thing since sliced bread. Doing ours now as they get first vaccine & first worm. Try it, you won’t be disappointed
I do mine at first worming as well, I can’t recall ever have a ewe struck after either, do them In a pen and it gets everywhere. Best investment on the farm.

well worth the extra, unlike crovect which works where it lies clik extra creeps into wool and whilst not killing the maggots stops them maturing and thus prevents the increase in fly numbers and ime reduces fly strike in wooly sheep. It is no good if already struck where crovect is the best product as it kills the maggots on contact.

If your clicking lambs now isn’t it spread onto the ewes fleeces. Is that not a problem for the shearer’s. Label says dont apply within 3 months of wool harvest

I didn’t think it was, had a couple of dirty backsides in a small bunch, had FEC done and sure enough, time too get dosing!

4/5 weeks ish.

My lambs are older, 8ish weeks.
Normally I'd be getting into it with dirty tails showing but nothing yet

Lambs looking are very well, just caught one of the very oldest Beltexes from start of March which has a touch of scald and jesus he's a tank

Doesn't even feel warm enough for worming yet 😕

I'm holding firm... might start next week depending what the weather does.
I had them in being tailed. I gave them a vit drench , and because they were in, their white wormer and a spray of click extra. Off to the far away fields out the back by the weekend. Should save a job in a few weeks!

SCOPS has red dots either side of me. Going in with the wormer at the weekend. Cocci and first Hep P+ last Sunday. I hate to handle them two weekends on the trot but I thought a triple whammy of Hep, Tolracol and white wormer might be a bit rough on them. Youngest lambs will be 5 weeks oldest 8.
I too thought it was a tad nippy for a nemo hatch but have to trust SCOPS though I'm trusting my gut that fly strike will be a good while off yet at 200m in Aberdeenshire. When the time comes it will be Clik. By the time my sheep are shorn there usually isn't 16 weeks of fly weather left in the season so it's a one treatment and relax option for me.
