Apologies if this has been asked before! but im looking for some anya potato seed to grow next year. Could do with around 100 tubers.
As happened last year it seems that there may not be any seed available for the horticultural sector.
Sainsburys have an exclusive on them(for eating) so i could buy some from them , but what id like to know is would they grow when planted next spring, or will they have been treated with a sprout suppressant and does that make them unviable as seed?

Tatties are kept in cold stores nowadays to suppress sprout growth ,the days of dowsing them with powder and under straw in a shed have long gone .
Ive grown shop bought spuds with great results ,sometimes second grown are better than new seed .

If you buy them now they most likely will be ok. Anything treated with sprout suppressant will be planned for longer term storage.

Your problem will be Maleic Hydrazide. The residues can adversely affect the subsequent crop. I have seen this in commercial.crops where as bit of old crop used to finish off a field.
