What are we protesting, defra? Or are they even to blame? It's not the publics fault, it's not really the supermarkets fault... my direction would be to protest at the ones selling us up the street, not those buying into the benefit. Take your pitchforks to Stoneleigh off your own backs before calving, lambing and spring drilling.

I bet theres already been some meetings behind closed doors in government along the lines of what the f will we do if or when protests happen over here.

Easy to see what the Government response will be.

Yesterday they were getting the message across that tube train drivers are already on £50K+ salaries.

If farmers started getting arsey you'd soon see a Government Spokesman saying farmers are complaining about how much they get for milk, beef, lamb etc when the public are already struggling with rising food costs.

UK farmers need to remember that in France the Code Napoleon means every child inherits a equal share from the previous generation. That means a lot higher percentage of voters have a real interest in farming. So Government is a lot more likely to respond positively.
Yes, but... there are ways around it; share in businesses etc. (y)

Bizarre isn't it. Protesting about NFU seems the most appropriate.

What a state of affairs.

No. He's a boorish knob.

edit: just read the OP, you mean to lead a tractor rally rather than a general figurehead ? Crack on. He's the perfect person for leading such an insane event.

The obvious choice is 'the black farmer'... untouchable and truly representative of UK ag', rural areas and the country as a whole - I know this must be true because this is what the BBC tells me is the reality in modern Britain. 😐
I've got no issue with someone of another race.

I do have issues with someone dishonestly pretending to be a farmer so as to flog someone else again's bangers.
(dunno who supplies em now, but they were previously coming from a very white farmer indeed!)

Considering they have become essentially a self appointed governing body a protest or coup isn't that bizarre really.

We haven't got much to thank the conservatives for, in creating this massive net-zero white elephant, but then nor have hundreds of thousands of other UK businesses. As far as losing BPS, poor form, but if SFI continues to adapt until it can suit all farms it will paint a better public picture of agriculture... better leadership by the NFU could have avoided a lot of the issue if they'd not decided the easiest way to net zero is just to lumber it on farmland, it's a cop out. Each and every person, business or manufacturer should be responsible for tidying up their own footprint.

As for all this protesting talk on TFF, I do think a vast amount of blame belongs to the NFU and somehow they need to realise they must take a huge U turn. There seems little evidence they acknowledge it at present and maybe they need a serious wake up call. Blocking cities and main roads won't do us any favours from any eyes, its just as senseless as these clowns glueing themselves to the roads.

If anyone wants to organise a French style protest, take your baguettes, tractors and favourite farm yard stench to Stoneleigh and put on a bigger day than the Royal Show.

I dont care about any of that, atleast there farming & employing people what more can you ask?

I do care about it. Because they are still producing stuff without a care in the world as to where it goes or in the need to make money in doing it.

If inheritance tax was done away with they could (and probably would) go and spend their money on yachts, houses or Caribbean islands and it wouldn't be contributing to constant over-supply of agricultural commodities- that's the main problem that any business relying on the price of agricultural produce to sustain them.
