Chewing the fat with a friend about older tractors glazing their bores when doing stationary work at tickover/fast tickover.
He said that it wouldn't apply to direct injection engines, I'm not so sure, but willing to be convinced.
Any mechanics who can give a definitive answer?

I want to make a concrete weight for a compact tractor, needs to be about 150kg. If the weight frame is about 20cm width (internal) what dimension of former would I need to make? It would be a simple hook on affair with a loop on top to lift it off, I can't quite get my head around the dimensions.
I am needing a 6 seat crewcab for a couple of months and the Transit and Vivaro seem to be the most abundant.
I realise there will be fans of both, but which would be the most reliable, and best for resale once no longer needed, budget isn't great but around £7,500 max.
The diff lock warning light on my MF 372 4WD is now staying lit all the time, even though the diff lock is not engaged. Is this just a fuse, or something more sinister?
I have just started receiving Yahoo News notifications on my Android phone, but I don't have any Yahoo apps installed, as I have searched the phone. How do I turn off the notifications?
There are times when (not often) a mini digger would be handy to have, but would a small back actor fitted to the MF35 be a good compromise? I am thinking of something like this, which has it's own PTO pump, ideal as the 35's hydraulic performance is not brilliant.
Does anyone have any...
I need a concrete breaker to knock down a small block wall, it's a one off so don't want to buy something expensive that will in all probability never be used again. Any recommendations at the lower value end that would be up to the job? Something like this...
I need to sort out storage for my tools, are the cheaper Halford ones any good? I'm looking for some middle of the road types, not made of recycled syrup tins, and not the professional ones at the other end of the scale. Any recommendations?
I've just taken delivery of a new N-Guard. On the whole, I like it but the suspension seems very firm, you tend to feel every imperfection on the road, are they all like this, and will it "bed in" come time?
I need to find an old soakaway in a rough piece of ground which has to be cleared for an area of hard standing. Are there any quick ways of finding it? I don't want the digger to disturb it as it's still in use.
