ForFarmers has said that the 2023 maize silage season has yielded good volume, but the performance of that silage is “disappointing”.
The agricultural feed company said this conclusion was reached following “extensive analysis” by its forage...

We’re having some issues currently with cow performance being pretty poor and not consistent. Had a meeting with nutritionist and we’ve played around with some things and hopefully things will improve.
Discussed with vets who also have a nutritionist and run the same program as far as I’m aware...

Mycotoxins are natural substances produced by moulds and fungi. They cannot be seen with the naked eye, and they cannot be tasted — but they are toxic.
More than 500 different mycotoxins have been identified to date, and most animal feedstuffs are...
This is a slightly bizarre and definitely pointless thread but putting hay out yesterday for our dry cows and thinking what a fantastic feed it is; no plastic, no effluent, easy as pie to handle and transport, rumen friendly, cows love it.
Got me wondering; does anyone know of anyone still...
I have a Leyland 154 scraper tractor and after being parked up all summer the steering was really stiff. Took some bits apart, lots of wd40 and can barely turn the left stub axle and wheel. Steering pretty free otherwise when jacked up.
Lubrication is mostly slurry as on many livestock farms...
A potential anaerobic digester just up the road from me had its Planning Committee meeting yesterday. They had already approached me to grow crops for them & take digestate back. I would prefer a break crop if possible. The farm has a significant blackgrass burden. Mostly brashy soils prone to...
If you had a blank canvas and you wanted to put up a shed or possibly two for holding 200-240 beef head what designs would people think off.
We are thinking locking yokes, 18ft scrap passage, concrete panels dividing scrape passage off straw yards.
Interest in how you access the straw yards to...
Afternoon all, had a warning buzzer, lights etc come on, adblue deteriorated, drain adblue tank and put in new adblue. Have done that but warning buzzer and warning lights still on, performance is unaffected.
Very difficult to drive with the incredibly loud buzzer going off!
Is there anyway to...

I have never really rigured out the best way to put out a fence with mine.
1. Drive round unreeling wire. Throw posts off whilst travelling. Put corner posts up. Put the reels on the end post. Then walk right round again putting the posts in and wire. Then tension.
2. Drive 50 metres throwing...
