Best 4 cylinder tractor from the 1980s-1990s

Good day everyone, I am a new member here. I am looking for a good 4 cylinder tractor from the 1980s-1990s. The tractor will be all rounder on my mixed farm, it will be used for a variety of things from running the feed mixer to pulling a trailer or even field work. I am looking in the power...

    New to cattle

Hi I am looking into bed and breakfast cattle, and looking for any help/advice as I am new to it all. I will be getting them in around 150kg and taking them to around 550-600kg. I am scratching my head on what will be best for wait gain while keeping costs down, I am wanting them in and out...

    Vario power sap

Seen this video, now the case could be mapped out more but the difference here is vast so got me thinking is the agco vario far more power hungry than the nh cvt?

    Hay

This is a slightly bizarre and definitely pointless thread but putting hay out yesterday for our dry cows and thinking what a fantastic feed it is; no plastic, no effluent, easy as pie to handle and transport, rumen friendly, cows love it. Got me wondering; does anyone know of anyone still...

    Feeding heifers TMR

Does anyone feed their heifers TMR if so how many rations do you feed to the different ages. I'd like to feed weaning to 9m with the diet feeder to get away from chucking a lot of nuts on top of straw or silage.

    Mixer wagon type

Newby to mixer wagon. I'm wanting to produce dry blends. Rolled cereal and beans with additional protein and minerals possibly with molasses. A unit with high discharge height and good empty out ability to reduce residual product between blends. It won't ever do forage based diets. Single axle...

    Feeding concentrates

Our parlour feeders are knackered. Keeping them going with welding up anything which breaks and filling in gaps but probably got another year tops in them, its a loft with manual feeding and drops of .9kg each time. Not keen on replacing them as I think really long term the parlour will move but...

    Keltec or Tanco bale cutter

I know keltec cuts up and Tanco down but just wondering which is stronger or better and will either cut through half dry unchopped haylage?

What do you do all day?

I work on a family farm, probably not milking enough cows for the amount of staff we've got, but now the winters here It's a struggle to fill the days with work. Usually jobbed up by lunchtime then it's a few hours until pm milking. Probably start hedgelaying soon but thats barely worth it.

Amazone sprayer on a Massey dyna vt

Occasionally I have to put my amazone uf 1602 on a massey ferguson 6718S dyna vt (normal tractor is a 6713S dyna 6) - the sprayer hydraulics work off the load sensing pipes on the tractor, when on the Vt it will switch off the front suspension or make it work funny as if it’s starving it of...

    New tractor

Next year we are 70 cows, Spring calving. Buffered maize in dry spells and turnips/kale over the winter, out pretty much every day for a few hours. Unfortunately even though we try to keep everything simple we still need a loader tractor, just can't see how it's possible without making life...

    Suckler shed design

Hi there I would like to build a new building to house my suckler cows. I have planning permission for a 60 x 40 ft shed. At current we have 14 sucklers however are struggling for housing space so cannot expand and cannot calve inside leading to calves being sold younger. I would also like to...

Winter milk: Grouping cows for greater feed efficiency

Written by Brian McDonnell from Agriland Having good feed efficiency within winter milk systems is vital for a margin to be achieved on milk produced during the housed period. Winter milk production usually involves more concentrates or imported feed onto the farm being fed to cows...

    Mixing grain

Mixing own grain here for ewes and finishing lambs, looking for something less hassle & accurate than loader and wall. Anyone using a diet feeder to just mix grain, like idea of it as can make up tmr if want and also maybe propcorn grain if need be. Any other options that would be worth...

Straw chopped mixing silage and straw

Anyone feed silage and straw to suckers with a straw chopped, I'm debating either a mixer wagon or straw chopper, cows don't eat straw if given bale silage bale straw separate but will they if I layer silage and straw together with chopper? Chopper be handy as currently bedding by hand. But...

    Feed urea

Can I mix some urea fertiliser in with my wheat to bring protein up slightly? Would be 30-40g per kg with max intake of 120-160g per cow per day obviously not strictly feed grade but have heard of people doing it and it being ok? Would be done with a proper mill and mix lorry so would be mixed...
