    Whole crop cutting advice please

We have 20ac of whole crop peas / barley under sown with grass. Went in late due to wet spring. Do we cut it now before grains have developed, put plenty of slurry on and get another decent cut of grass 1st september? Or do we wait another +/-5 weeks for grains to grow, get top quality whole...

    No insects

Will this is a bit alarming. We were shearing two days ago in a pen in a field carpeted in blooming clover and other flowers. The weather wasn't bad and it wasn't raining. We're in an upland area and what crops are here aren't being sprayed anyway. During the few hours we were there, we didn't...

    Push or pull front mowers

I have always assumed a pull type front mower was better for following rough ground. But a salesman told me it doesn't matter as much as you think. And he wasnt actually trying to sell me a push type mower😀. It's all down to the shape and design of the skids and float system that matters...

Advice for friend - topped field with ragwort

A friend has arranged to take on a field (for horses), it was overgrown so today they had it topped - is there any way to remove the cuttings that don't involve baling? There were a lot of weeds and sadly some ragwort so it can't really be left, it's about 8 acres....

    Topping - Mower or Topper

Everyone says to top with a mower vs a topper to get better regrowth. But how do you deal with the residue? With a mower it will be in windrows, with a topper it will be mulched and spread to a degree??

    Flail mower rotor bearing replacement

The non-pulley offside bearing has failed - screeching noise, heat and smoke! It's an 8 year old Jensen 1.25 metre for compact tractor - although I'm sure it's a generic Chinese machine - plenty of other makes look identical. Is it likely to be a simple replacement for a non-techy person like...

    Hedge cutter flails

Just a quick question. Does it pay to have genuine McConnel F10 flails on a hedge cutter rather than the pattern ones that are £2-£3 cheaper? Or is there absolutely no difference whatsoever other than the price and whether or not they have McConnel on the side of them. Many thanks.

]How to improve and get the most from my small parcel of land

Good afternoon, I will start with a bit of a description of our land. We are located in NE Cornwall, about 5 minutes from the moors, our land totals about 20 acres. Dad bought it about 8 years ago and we have since done nothing with it. We have applied and got the grant for fencing it which I...

    MF 135 hydraulic oil filter?

I have taken the hydraulic oil filter out of my 135 and it is the one on the left in the photo. I was careful to take the whole thing out in one. The 'mountings' are on the right hand side along with the new filter. Looking at the photos on the internet, the filters and housings do seem to...

    'Recycling' Shot Rabbits

I have a permission shooting rabbits on a regular basis just south of Aberdeen, but as I don't eat them I will dispose of them in the usual manner. But my question is, does anyone know who in the Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire area would take them off my hands. They are always 'head shot' with an FAC...

    NH T6 120 no powerboost

Hello lads, i have a T6 120 low roof and i wonder if it has powerboost because i have never seen it turn on, and it would be needed uphill dragging a mower. So what could be the problem, or does it not have powerboost?

    Compact Tractor Advice

Good Evening I'm looking at compact tractors and I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. I was leaning towards a new Kubota EK1 - 261 with loader , but reading further it seems like its a rebadged Farmtrac FT26 which I believe are made in India? Has anyone got one of these or the...

Vicon RF135 - Gearbox oil change

Evening Has anyone ever done it? The manual says to only change the fluid when the gearbox needs to be repaired (or something along those lines), so I'm assuming there's no easy way to drain the oil. Where is the filler/level plug? I can't see anything on the sides so I'm guessing I have to...
