Spring barley is 7 weeks from harvest. Has ramularia present on 2nd and 3rd leaves.
Got 0.6 revystar to go on this week. Would that be enough to keep it at bay?
I have some spring barley that is just gone past GS59 and has not gotten its T2 due to unforeseen circumstances. I want to include a multisite and now folpet is the only option and I see it says apply before GS59, I could leave it out but just wondering does anyone have any bad expeirence of...

Following an exceptionally dry spring in 2020, many were hoping for a more ‘normal’ spell of spring weather in 2021.
However, the weather over the past month has been predominantly dry for most, along with being exceptionally cold, with the Met Office provisionally...
It’s been a long time since I’ve grown spring barley, what are people using for fungicides and growth regs this year? Crop looks well with good potential
Written by Charlotte Cunningham
Syngenta has launched a new, online support tool to help growers with fungicide decisions in winter wheat and in winter and spring barley. Charlotte Cunningham reports. Available at www.syngenta.co.uk/rust-locator-2021/fungicide-decision-tool, the interactive...
Have used 0.5l/ha Jaunt (Fluoxastrobin(75g/l) Prothioconazole(150g/l)
Trifloxystrobin(75g/l)) the last couple of years with good results( have both been very dry springs with low levels of disease). With the loss of CTL what are people using this year?

Download PDF The loss of chemical options for barley disease control may have left barley genetics relatively exposed. CPM takes a detailed look at how the key pathogens play out in current programmes. The breeders are beginning to look at the bigger picture and helping growers...
Given the late drilling date and the amount of rain that’s gone on them I’m pleasantly pleased with the state of my crops.
I do have two small fields that are below par but most are looking well.
How are others looking?
Wheat and barley below, no rape this year but locally it looks well.
THE IMPORTANCE OF MULTI-SITES
History clearly tells us that single-site fungicides used without the addition of a multi-site can quickly succumb to resistance evolution. Alternative multi-sites such as folpet can be used to manage resistance and extend the life of existing chemistry.
THE...
Unusually cold this week. Another frost this morning, so at least 3 this week now.
Have T2 on wheat to do, T1 on SB and some beans to tidy up. All mixes containing a herbicide.
Anybody not applying with such low night temps?
An interview with independent agronomist Ben Burrows of Crop Management.
ADAMA: With regards to barley, what are the key diseases growers should be wary of, and have you seen an increase in the incidence of ramularia?
Ben: In my opinion, the two most significant...
Some of the stuff i've sown is, some is ok, some is terrible!
It looks like i've sown it too thin, but I've not, it is desperate for a good downpour, I was thinking while driving from them earlier, there's not been drop of proper rain since they went in the ground.
How's yours looking?
Arable growers warned not to ditch multi-site fungicides as chlorothalonil deadline looms
With the final use-up date for chlorothalonil rapidly approaching, arable growers in the UK will need to switch to folpet to maintain effective protection against cereal diseases such as septoria in wheat...
As the illustration below shows, the traditional spray programme for winter barley is for an optional T0 treatment as early as GS23 followed by a T1 spray using a robust application of broad spectrum fungicides at GS31. The subsequent T2 application is then made at GS39-49 with broad spectrum...
Just a reminder that the final use-by date is Wednesday 20 May 2020 (UK and EU), after which it will be illegal to spray CTL.
Make sure the stores are empty by this date.
What are people planning to use in its absence?
Pathogen
Ramularia collo-cygni
Hosts
The disease affects winter and spring barley. The fungus is able to infect wheat and oats but the incidence and importance of this is unknown.
Symptoms
Ramularia shows no visible symptoms at the seedling stage, so identification within seed and seedlings...

The global pandemic may have made self-distancing the new normal, but it’s also prompted closer links between communities across the world. CPM gets an insight into the problems spring barley growers face from the UK to New Zealand in a recent Zoom briefing hosted by BASF. The...
