Bought a machine with two 3 phase motors . No 3 here
Is it cheaper just to buy two new single Phase Motors
Or alternatives?
Sorry if it's in the wrong place
My uncle was king of electrics could do anything but sadly no longer here

The network operators are now obliged to put 3 phase in at either no cost or vastly reduced cost. Had an email recently about it . Worth enquiring.

Depends on horsepower requirements as stated by previous post. You can use VFD on reasonable sized motors. The limit can be the single phase supply, as current demand is high on larger motors and this is supported better by three phase supplies. With two motors you could also run a rotary phase converter off the single phase supply. This is essentially a single phase motor driving a three phase motor/alternator to create three phase output. But you get losses and if the motors are large you could soon be over the incoming supply between 60-100A typically. Another option is a generator, cheap enough to buy an run if no supply on site.

Depends on the machine ! I run lathes and mills on inverters, wire the controls circuit and keep motor at full speed using the lathe / mill gearbox as normal
Bigger motors, either change motor or look at a phase converter, but good ones don’t come cheap

If you want some good advice phone Motor control warehouse in Newtown and ask for Gareth Lloyd. He can advise if the motors you have can work on a Invertek inverter, 1st class service.

I could have a problem
It seems the main motor is 15 kw now way will my supply drive that
Generator Job ?
Probably be a struggle. Assuming peak efficiency of 100% which in a motor isn't possible, at full load that motor will draw at least 62 Amps, added to the fact that the startup current could easily exceed 150 Amps, I'd say with all the lights and other power draws switched off you may just about be able to start/run the motor on a standard supply but you'd be able to use nothing else at the same time. So I'd say a generator would be your best bet.

or put a PTO on if possible
