140 HP Electric tractor, 5 hours work for a 20 minute charge.

WTF are they charging it from, overhead pylons?

140hp so, for ease, say 100kW motor. Runs for 5 hours so that's 500kWh. Assume 80% overall efficiency for ease so a 600kWh battery pack. Charging that in 20 minutes means a charge rate of 1800kWh! The fastest Tesla charger I've seen is 80kWh and that needs a good 3 Phase connection.
It's very hard to look past the energy density of good ol'dinosaur juice. :ROFLMAO:

140hp is easily achievable with an electric motor. Note Chairperson Yol says it will run for "Up to" 5 hours so that would be the absolute maximum it will run for under perfect conditions, probably travelling at slow speed not pulling anything. Or to put it another way nothing close to that in normal use, probably under 1 hour if you're making it grunt

There lies the problem with many farms. They might develop the machinery, and then it takes a week to charge up as the farm is single phase.

I think the future will on the line of The Small Robot Company, little computerised tractors working 24 hours a day, just like Clives new lawnmower!
